We have recently collected some Theater Tool’s that work for BMS Theater Development.
We’ll start here:

This tool allow’s you to take the available .shp file for a country and convert it to .e00,which is the format that “CODECS” Dem2Terrain tool understand’s.
Has anyone used FME and was able to convert *.shp to *.e00 in the correct format?
I’ve tried (not really hard due to lack of time) and failed yet,
… the converted *.e00 format was differently to those directly downloaded from GIS.BUT to me it seems to be not an easy task.
Any tips and hints?

Zaggy had some problems with that, too. I think he mentioned to me that the fix was in removing some text at the top of file or in a header. That was when he converted China and Russia from Lambert.

Alright thanks. And btw… When I’m trying to sign up for the FME thing so I can convert the .shp to .e00, it just simply wont let me. Is there any other way to convert to .e00?

I have searched around but found nothing good.Search for DCW (Digital Chart of the World) originally hosted by Penn State back in the day, but I think that Database is dead.
Last I remember is that one or two other universities were still maintaining it after 2006.Demer

Alright, so I got everything going smooth, but then when i needed to open and run the Terrain Rebuilder “Hitti”, it just crashes. Anyway I can fix this? I am following the PMC Tactical Ultimate Theater Tutorial on their website.

You don’t need to rebuild the terrain in BMS.

Okay so I got to the point where I need to use TerrainScript. I got ActivePerl installed, to open up the .pl files in the Terrainscript folder. What do I do now? When I open up the procidx1.dl file, and the cmd window pops up and I write in it, it just automaticlly disapears! What is the problem? Am I doing something wrong?

No need to use any Perl Script.

These are TERRAIN files. You need to have one more- * map
You can copy and paste from Korea.
… _\ Falcon BMS 4.32 \ Data \ Terrdata \ korea \ terrain _ Theater.mapSo you have.

It’s all terrain files.You will get also:
*-airport.tdf
*-city.tdf
*-coast.tdf
*-label.tdf
*-river.tdf
*-road.tdfThese files are needed for Cate (Cate is your next step)

Thanks, but the point with it is to change some .tga files (pictures) for the campaign and such (I belive)

Open your new. L2 file in terrainviewLg
On the top bar, expand File - Load Terrain Features
Load TDF files from Dem2Teerrain (roads, rivers, etc. …)
expand Operations - save bitmap.
Simple.
Created bitmap can be opened in DXTBmp

save as 24 bit bmp.
From this image, you can do .tga in PS. -

What is the highest definition for a Falcon BMS map? I was able to download DEM files with 1 arc resolution (30 meters or 90 feet resolution). Would be awesome to add that feature to Falcon.
I tried the DEM2TErrain but doesn’t open regular DEM files, even if you generate the HDR file for that, or maybe my DEM file is too high resolution.
Any help will be appreciated.
Also, I was trying to replace aircrafts but no luck. I can dump aircrafts from any game and we can use to replace the low resolution ones in Falcon…

Has anyone else besides me had an issue with the “Loader.exe” file from Monster’s TerrainEditor package (version 3.6.5) being flagged as a infected file? I’ve had Kaspersky flag it as “UDS: DangerousObject.Multi.Generic”. I don’t remember what McAfee flagged it as for sure but I think it was something like a generic Trojan.
