Hello,I thought the people in this forum had solved my issue with BMS not launching. We had it fixed for a few hours, then I rebooted the PC and then, dang it, it failed to launch. I noticed that it is running in Task Manager, just not showing up on the screen. When I first try to launch it, the screen turns black and then goes back to the desktop. To date, we’ve tried deleting the two .vhs files, re-installing it and deleting the DX 9 display file in the Config folder. By the way, this time around there is no DXdisplay.dsp file in the config file. Adding to the frustration is the fact I couldn’t get the controllers to work when the sim was running. This is making me crazy.

      My system is:
      My system is:
      *Desktop, Windows 7 Ultimate
*Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 6 core 3.5 GHz
*Dual Invidia video cards GTX 680
      *2 SSD 125 gigs
      *16 gigs RAM
      *Saitek Combat Pro rudders
      Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog controllers

This is frustrating–I really want to fly this sim. Thank so so much for your help.

Could be an issue with your pc, how old is the install of windows? If you reinstalled falcon and deleted all the old install data and the reg files then something is up with your PC. Try uninstalling/reinstalling the video drivers (the correct way). If all else fails, try reformatting. I can reformat this pc with my USB stick in under 20 minutes (apart from the updates). Falcon is not that intricate as far as program files, meaning its pretty straight forward as far as how its placed in your system. Like I said, if you reinstalled correctly its more than likely going to be a PC issue, I am willing to bet its something with your video cards/ video drivers set up. A good reformat should bring that thing back to life, like it was brand new :).

I’ve thought that myself, especially with the dual cards. I think it might also be a registry issue, but who knows at this point.

I would clear the entire system of BMS, including registry and re-download BMS and start fresh. Something just isn’t right here.

Also, his controllers, don’t know if that’s playing into the issue.

It’s baffling that he gets it to run and then when he reboots, it won’t run??

That is surely strange. I can understand a networking issue, but unless a user error is the culprit I honestly dont understand why after a reboot his BMS will not run.

When you did the re-install did you run the BMS registry cleaner before re-installing?

Is your sound hardware all working and up to date? BMS4.32 is quite particular about soundcards, etc.

Same issue here, reinstall didn’t fix it. Are you running the latest NVidia drivers?

Yes, I’ve made extra sure. Have not deleted any files, though.

Yeah check and see if the intro screen is set to on in the configuration part of the launcher.

Thanks so much you guys. I got it running and then a few hours later it crashed and I had to reboot my PC. I’m going to re-download the latest iteration–1-7 if I can it again–then reinstall it.

Before you even start installing it, make sure you remove all files related to BMS and to clear your registry!!! PLEASE, haha

It’s fixed for me. I tried it again today and it worked. Minor work needed after restoring a backup and I’m ready again!

Now to get to modding. Any suggestions?

                                    Yes, save modding until later.
Learn the sim first and be confident that you have a stable install.

Okay, I’ve disabled the intro movie, removed .vhs files, uninstalled it, ran the registry cleaner and re-installed it. The same ol’ same ol’ results.

Its the display drivers I can almost bet on it. Uninstall the ones you have now, and use a driver cleaner like Display Driver Uninstaller. For best results use the cleaner in safe mode. If you insist on having the latest drivers then try reinstalling them from a fresh download. If not then like I have said 4 times already download the ones your manufacturer suggests and make sure you use the cleaner beforehand or else it will lead to more problems.

Running a registry cleaner probably caused more problems, I always tell people not to do this. Registry cleaners can never be 100% safe because it can actually delete something which is still in use. When we say cleaning the registry we mean going into regedit and removing any entry BMS leaves behind.
