Editing the training missions
-
I think i knew how to do this in past years…
Is there a way to edit the default training missions? Copy the file and rename it?
I need to extend the legs on the refueling mission, the tanker is turning way too soon for me. -
I think it was bugged in 4.34. I know it was better for me in 4.34.1 U1 incremental
From bug release notes on 4.34.1
— AAR fixes: (r19847)- Tanker entering in turn too soon.
Hope it’s easier for you.

change the file from .trn to .tac and then you can edit them. Once complete, switch it back to .trn

Hello,
many thanks for the hint.
Or just leave it as *.tac this will add to the flight hours
And depending on the mission there will be a debrief.
Fly safe and aim high.

True, and agree, dear Lorik.
But there is one more issue. Let’s face the reality: the good old ‘saving the *.trn’ trick to modify it after and in case modify that specific mission in a ‘*.tac’ won’t ever allow to see a debriefing nor earn points. That because we all already know that a training mission always is and will remain a training mission, in all its features, I mean.
So is BMS, take it or leave it.
In conclusion: personally, I never found saving and converting a training mission a big deal.
I always loved to create a true ‘custom’ training one instead, fit on my particular tastes and needs, but as a ‘*.tac’ and all its embedded privileges, most of all.Just my one cent here, nothing more.
With best regards.

You don’t earn/receive any points for TE’s!

Sure that, C9!
I was actually speaking ‘in general sense’, though… one more lost in translation case, perhaps?
With best regards.

Just because it isn’t documented it isn’t a bad thing is it?

Hello,
Just to make sure. To get the flight hours counted you must convert the *.trn to *.tac (simply rename).
Additional benefit: you can edit the “training” TE-mission (e.g. I set the time to start the training mission with a cold and dark Viper).
Have a great evening,
