Campaigning in number two, three, or four

CONTACT refers to an individual sensor contact within a GROUP. A BOGEY is just an unknown CONTACT. SPADES is no correct IFF codes, BANDIT is an enemy contact who does not meet HOSTILE criteria IAW theater ROEs.
you’d better give the pilot the option to call JUDY as well if the AWACS starts getting that verbose…
Great vid here. I am constantly hearing “radar contact” or “contact”. So I know I am not imagining what I hear.
Just to add, the call outs in that vid for “contact” is not “groups”. Civ aircraft for sure, but also military as well in his flight path or general area. As for using Cary Grant on AWAC’s, that is not a good thing. I would call “Judy” in the merge but only if it got into a “furball”. Constant updates for AWAC’s are vital IMO.

well for starters those are navy F-16s… different brevity.

Yeah, not so much, but different in a few ways. It’s just a general use of terms and meanings really. “Contact” or “Bogey” would mean the same thing for FBMS. You say “tomato” and I say “tomota”……

The AI aren’t that great for A-G (depending on the target or mission), but they’re pretty good for A-A…but i recommend always flying lead.

Awesome video. I have a little off topic question though. At 11:45 how does he switch between Ground Speed, True Air Speed, and Calibrated Speed on the HUD like that?

oh. right. uh, no idea.

That vid was actually posted today in another thread. I heard it and copied the link here. It demonstrated the call out examples I pointed out.
As for the alt. through the DED, I think you can do that in FBMS. Not sure though as I just use the r/s console and flip the switch.

Thanks for the help guys. I’m still learning some of the F-16 systems and I haven’t gotten through all of the documentation yet.

I know it’s a daunting task of reading and practice. But FBMS is not a first person shooter, nor is it a WoW MMOG, nor is it a racing game, nor is it like any game out there. It is a sim. The most complex sim out there IMO. But once you frag your first jet, or bomb a runway out of existence (even if just for 24 hours), or land your jet in bad weather, those challenges far exceed any other game out there IMO. And the reward is simply your mastery of a complex sim like FBMS. I find the reward far better than any other games I play.
