Is the campaign better flown with awacs required or not?

Yes use AWACS … it will increase your SA and that’s always a good thing. You just cant have too much SA ;0)

I wasn’t sure which way would be better for realism as the AWACS required setting is to force the use of AWACS unless it is assigned.

I have found that setting to be dubiously useful in any engagement except one in which an AWACs is specifically added to the mission.

There aren’t to many times in the Korean campaigns were you won’t have an AWACS available so that setting doesn’t make much difference really. Having ‘AWACS Required’ enabled would be the most realistic option but you probably won’t notice the effect.

change the waypoints in Korean campaigns for AWACS much further south so you won’t lose them when the red horde hits your CAP. Awacs helps.
