Multiplayer Connection Issues

Okay, I’m a programming. I’m not stupid. I am quite computer literate. I know how to forward ports…but I am still having trouble here.
My router comes equipped with a Pinholes section that includes a list of common games, it has Falcon 4.0. I tired turning that on for my dedicated server box. No joy.
I created a new one for UDP/TCP 2934-2936, point it at my server box. No joy.

I created a new one for TCP 2934-2936, point it at my server box. No joy.At this point I am frustrated. I dump the whole damn box into the DMZ. There is no firewall on the system, Windows firewall is turned off. All other unnecessary services and applications are turned off. Nothing is running on the system except Windows 7, and Falcon 4.0. The box is in the DMZ and has my external IP address mapped to it locally. It is running via DIRECT cable to the Modem/Router provided by AT&T.
Still no one can connect.
Please help me with this, I’ve been dealing with it for four days and I am out of patience for the damn thing.
No firewall on the box, no windows firewall. It is for sure in the DMZ it is FOR SURE getting the external address.
I had some test connect to Veteran Gaming’s server, and we were both able to connect just fine there. It’s just getting to my dedicated box that seems to be the problem.

If I understood correctly, you are trying to set a server on another PC on the same network?
If this is, then it won’t work. 1 PC running Falcon for 1 IP Address.
If not, maybe you are not running the same Theater than the other PC.
Hope it helps.
P.D.: Ports to be opened:
TCP: 2934-2937
UDP: 9987-9989 -

We’ve run this way before - but I moved and I am still resetting my network and my dedicated PCs. It’s only since the move that he hasn’t been able to connec

I’m glad you asked this, because I forgot to mention it before, but we checked the theaters and we are all running Korea (Korea Theater Operation).

TCP: 2934-2937
UDP: 9987-9989The UDP ports are only for IVC, correct?
At any rate, sticking the machine in the DMZ should negate the need to route ports.

Yes, DMZ should do the trick.
I tried before to connect 2 PC’s running Falcon (1 for dedicated server and my PC as a client), both in the same network under a Router. I wasn’t able to get it running. Only 1 PC could connect, but not both. I searched in these forums, and found that only 1 PC can run Falcon under 1 external IP.
I’m curious though, how you managed to make it run before, because I’d really like to do this setup.

I don’t have an answer - I set it up exactly the way I described above and for some reason it was working. We even had four of us playing, me on the LAN and three guys over the net. In fact, we’ve even had 8 people playing that way (not counting the server) with 7 on the net and me over the LAN.

You moved?
Did ISP change?
Could be they need to make a change for you? -
One of the guys I fly with has hosted MP flights on one of his computers while connecting himself to another in the same LAN. No issues. I’ll see if I can drag him away from the PS4…

Wrong version or theater? There are problems other than the network layer.
-
If the host is inside the LAN, you can have multiple PCs all connected, some inside the LAN, some outside it.
Id double check the BMS version like Frederf says. I once got so frustrated that I couldnt connect until I realised that the install was an old backup copy I made back on 4.32U4…

If you want to 100% confirm ports are open, my opinion is that Simple Port Tester is the best tool available. I’ve had other tools tell me my ports are open when they are not. Simple Port Tester works.

Everyone is running 4.32.7. Korea Theater Operations.

well, to my knowledge, that leaves ports and making sure everyone is pointed at the correct IP address.

Do you have multiple networking adapters? Older games can have problems by assuming the “priority” adapter instead of trying them all.
Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections
Advanced
Advanced Settings…
Adapters and Bindings (tab)
Connections:You can move adapters up and down this priority list. Is the adapter you want to use on top of this list?

as Harlequin stated, i have set up server and client PC on local network. forward ports/DMZ to INTERNAL server IP. that is where your friends are connecting. have your friends connect to your external IP.
you need to connect via the INTERNAL IP of the server.
you can test each connection separately. test yourself first, see if you can connect to the server. (via internal IP, this is important)
once successful, have an external party test.

I will try this tonight, and see what happens.

I do have multiple network adapaters - I run a paid Hamachi network for reasons I will not get into now, and it adds a ‘hamachi network adapater’ to the PC. I will try uninstalling and seeing what happens.

Yeah I’m familar with this, and usually this is the way routers work but the jacked up box I got from my ISP (actually brought, from my old house) doesn’t work this way. Instead with the DMZ it assigns the external IP address locally to the DMZ box.
At any rate, everyone has only ever tried using the external address.

This is likely to be the issue –

Good luck

You can only route 1 UDP client behind 1 public IP. It’s a limitation of the UDP protocol.
Ie if an external client attempts to reach your IP, it will get to the NAT and your firewall config will route that external client to the one you assigned in the Firewall permissions.
That being said the Firewall has no way to know how to route packets destined to the server box vs. your 2nd client sitting behind the NAT.
eg. UDP 2934 incoming from external IP 129.232.123.12 has no way to chose which machine it’s packets are destined for.
TCP has a source/destination info with the packet, so firewalls can route multiple TCP traffic to multiple machines behind 1 IP, but this is not the case for UDP.
It may work at first, or at least seem as though it is. Generally you will experience some clients that can’t see others, and vice-versa. Causes all kinds of wierd stuff.
Using a VPN creates 2 virtual IPs which the UDP traffic can follow, so there’s no confusion where the packet is supposed to be routed to and from.
-
Khronik, if I’m understanding correctly, first, Falcon operates on TCP not UDP so it shouldn’t be a problem. But second, with a dedicated host, I only need data routed to one IP behind the router.
At any rate I am apparently a glutton for punishment because I won’t give up.
I re-ordered the priority of the adapters, and I got no change.
I removed the hamaci adapater and software from the pc, and I got no change.
I turned off IPV6 protocols on all of those (I didn’t even know they were on) and I got no change.I download and ran simple port test on ports 2934-2937 on TCP and UDP and it says they are ALLLL open. I don’t know what else to try now.

Excuse me for about a week, please. I am going to travel around the country and kill three people who all had the wrong IP address.

Only 1 PC could connect, but not both. I searched in these forums, and found that only 1 PC can run Falcon under 1 external IP.
This statement is not correct.
The only time there is a problem is if the Host Sets “block dubious connections”.
