Help setting up Push-To-Talk
-
Hi all, I’m back into F4 after many years away. Most is going pretty well but I’ve hit a wall trying to get Push-To-Talk to work. I’m running 4.34 with a CH Flightstick and Pro Throttle and I’ve got it working properly. I’m also running VAC using the profile included with the BMS documentation. I have the VAC profile setup to listen with the ALT-F8 key combo and have confirmed in the sim that I can send voice commands when pressing ALT-F8.I’d like to map button 4 on the Pro Throttle so that it sends ALT-F8.
I’m running the controllers in mapped mode through the CH Control Manager. I thought all I needed to do was edit the key file. So in the key file I added a new function, called it PTT, assigned ALT-F8 to it, then assigned PTT to the Joy 2 button 4. When I load this key file and launch the sim, the button isn’t doing anything. Clearly I’ve
one something wrong. When in Controller setup and I press the button 4, it says no function assigned but I was assuming that’s because I assigned it to a key combo that has no in-sim function. Not sure what to expect to see in theBeen searching a lot online but can’t find my specific issue and am at a loss where to go next. Any guidance greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

You’re overthinking this. Uncheck DX mode and type HOLD LALT F8 in “pressed” field. That should make it press ALT-F8.

Thanks! Perhaps typing it out led to a moment of clarity, I eventually figured it out last night! It was after I found a tutorial video on CH Control Manager that had a quick comment about unchecking DX and assigning a specific key. I had been trying to edit the key file in hopes that I could maintain the shift functionality of that button, but not a big deal. PTT works now so that’s good enough!
