Tried opentrack now lost ability to mouse look in cockpit
-
I tried opentrack with my android phone as camera, but it didnt work as I wanted. Now, I cant look around anymore with right mouse button as I used to do. I cant figure out how to fix it. Please help.

I think you need to uninstall OpenTrack. As long as BMS detect you have it, it disables mouselook.
-
I don´t why and how, but I get to have mouse look and opentrack working (without need to uninstall opentrack). But I lost it since I install alternative launcher.

Hm have you tried to use Opentrack with your phone as gyro sensor. That’s the way you would use Opentrack with a phone. As camera any webcam would be better than to use your phone

Having same problem after switching from TIR to opentrack. Anyone get a fix for it ?

I am pretty sure that you will have to uninstall open track from your computer and it will work again.

Hi all, just found the solution for this problem without uninstalling opentrack:
In opentrack’s output settings (Freetrack…), on “Select interface” you can choose Freetrack, TrackIR or Both.
If you select “Use freetrack, disable TrackIR” then the game doesn’t recognize it even if opentrack is activated and the octopus is moving and you will be able to use the mouse. You can even close opentrack after doing this and your mouse will still be used for looking.I don’t know if you can do this on the go and change it while playing, having tested it, as I found this by chance trying configurations.

Ferde mentioned one solution.
Another is to rename the Opentrack modules\NPClient64.dll (for example to NPClient64.dll.off) when you dont want to use Opentrack.
And rename it back again when you want to use it again.
It’s a pity BMS cannot handle this in a better way. -
If you want to use Opentrack for headtracking, but occasionally pause it and pan manually, what I found works is to use the keyboard VIEWGEN controls on the numeric keypad. Not as good as a mouse, but still pretty ok. But you have to stop Opentrack properly. The procedure is this:
- Assign a key in Opentrack to “Stop tracking” and one to “Start tracking” in the Opentrack interface
- In BMS 3D with active headtracking thru Opentrack: press key for “Stop tracking”
- You can now pan around with the keyboard keys (eg. Shift+NumPad4 for left)
- Once you want to use headtracking again, press key for “Start tracking”
Keyboard is obviously not as smooth as using a mouse. I have assigned the VIEWGEN controls to my DMS hat in a shifted state which helps

Yeah, but mouse , nor POV , still doesn’t work even with opentrack turned off… (keys do work) … it is a known old “problem” with opentrack… years ago.
… the problem is indeed in opentrack’s dll’s , and I have a solution for that. You have to use older npclient/npclient64 dlls from freetrack or some other software.
BUT… you might get into other problems … that “fix” (workaround) used to work previously ,//… last time I’ve tried using aforementioned dll’s something was wrong with opentrack ver12 (and I totally forgot that I replaced those dlls - YOU will forget ) … so … yeah.
So, it is what it is… I’m, afraid. - no povview and/or mouseview with right-click and opentrack (even closed/turned-off) at the same time. - just because of that npclient/64.dll.
What is working is…
There is a “switch” in BMS “Clickable Pit mode” … I think it is “ALT + 2” … then mouse is used to control views directly - but you can’t click on controls in the pit in that mode. And, there is a line in bms config -
set g_bMouseButton4TogglesClickablePit 1 // If set, the 4th mouse button (if available) will toggle between mouselook and clickable pit. By the way: the wheel is button 3
- so if your mouse have more then 3 buttons (button 3 is the wheel button, click) - then you can use that button 4 on the mouse to switch quickly from the view and clickable pit mode …
But… yeah , that’s all
/Adv story…
If think a little about that problem , it seems that opentrack’s npclient/64 dlls don’t have ON/OFF switch in them (software switch)…
So even opentrack is closed , not running , dll “take-over” view controls and disables all other dx input VIEW controls (dx mouse/pov hat) …
Yes, opentrack have tracking ON and tracking OFF , but that is merely internal mechanism and data throughput to the npclient/freetack dll … but the “REAL TURN OFF” doesn’t exists as such
So… maybe, if Halik and the team will have some more time to implement such a feature inside dll … well , it isn’t a big deal… I guess
Maybe even “masking” the dll in the registry would suffice as some way of ON/OFF , since the path is under a key:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NaturalPoint\NATURALPOINT\NPClient Location ```..just try renaming the value under "Path:" - and you'll see that evertyhing goes to "normal" - same thing as deleting (or moving) npclient64.dll .. just that it isnt found when NOT using any kind of trackir … ..well , above subject... anyway //Adv story OFF

When they want to use OPENTRACK and at some point they do not want to open it and want to fly looking with the mouse while holding down their right click, they must do the following steps.

You are using Opentrack from 2018 ?? see v2.3.9 .
Yes, that might work in that OLD version, but many things have been “fixed” (or changed) since then.
I don’t know why they didn’t port those switches to 2.3.12… this is picture of ver12 .

Hi Experts,
I’m new to BMS, and I just started my BMS with 4.37 days agao. And then I donwloaded openTrack and while I don’t want to put the hat on, I encounter the unable to use mouse look issue, and Google guided me to this post.
I know this is a very old post, but since I’m running on the newst BMS and openTrack today on 2023, it’s still not solved. Not sure if any developer is considering fix this issue?
The solution of “Use FreeTrack, hide/disable TrackIR” is not working for me, however, rename/delete the .dll file worked. So I made two .bat files thatI can quickly switch openTrack on and off:
1st, rename NPClient64.dll to NPClient64.dll.off in opentrack\modules folder
then, I prepared these two .bat files:- openTrackOff.bat:
cd C:\z\soft\opentrack\2022.3.2\modules del NPClient64.dll
- openTrackOn.bat:
cd C:\z\soft\opentrack\2022.3.2\modules copy NPClient64.dll.off NPClient64.dll /Y
that gives me an easier way to switch it on/off. I just want to share my solution

@KaneXu You’re a genius, now someone appears with a solution to bind this to some key assigment

It worked for me, @white_fang !
Thanks!! -
@AxelFoley
Jay !!! Axel Foley … dear God… , how did you escape from “Back to the future”But, ok… I’ve tried the switch also , but for me it worked exactly ONE time , on start of the mission, when Opentrack was in STOP mode…
Then when OT started, had to reload trackir from within BMS (ALT+C-T) to have OT working …
After, tried to stop OT to get back POV/Mouselook control … unable.
So, POV/Mouselook worked exactly one time.Did you managed better ?
Cheers
