Jittery TrackIR
-
Not having the best time setting up my “curves” I guess.
Not sure what I’m doing wrong here but whatever profile I load up, I can’t see how to prevent it from being so shakey.
Does anyone know of a setting or configuration that can help get this thing to calm down a bit.
Seems to work ok in the TrackIR profile manager, but in BMS this thing is far too jittery to get through a basic 3-sweep start-up.I can’t be the only one this has happened to (?)

Try this profile, works great for me. https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?8369-TrackIR-4-5-BMS-Profile-by-Yassy

Setting a center deadzone can help, but I gotta admit - when I’m at the RAMP, I use 2D View, and pan around with the mouse as I click things in the pit…
Best advice I ever got for TrackIR was to set all maximum turns (max left/max right/max up/max down) to be mapped physically to your nose alignment with monitor bezels… Imagine nose as laser pointer, when it is at left margin, TrackIR curve should terminate at the left most - same with all margins, and again, with a good 3" deadzone in the middle. Not best for every game/sim, some FPS shooters work better with nose-at-margins at a 50% turn, humans don’t have “Owl Necks”… but for flight sim, it works very well!
Best wishes and good luck!

Thanks Bubs!,
I had already tried that one before I posted, but same issue.
I know alot of peeps swear by that one, so when that didn’t resolve my issue, I was holding out hope someone would know a work-around. -

To deal with the shakiness I didn’t adjust the curves at all I just increased the smoothing setting by a significant amount until I reached the desired amount where my virtual head would sit still in BMS. I was having a hard time hitting the button because TrackIR would notice even the slightest movements of my head and throw the mouse cursor off.

I sorted out jittery response for my headtracking yesterday, although a Delanclip. I fiddled with curves, changed profile but to no avail. It turned out that the camera was reading/seeing the diodes as a bit blurry and did some ghost movements as a result. By that I mean that I would hold my head almost still but the camera still saw movement. So I sharpened the reading of the diodes with filtering in the camera software/driver. Once I had that correct outside of BMS, in-game worked properly too. The software I used was CL-Eye test for the camera and Opentrack

You don’t even need CL test it’s the same that is integrated in Opentrack and you can access the same camera settings from inside Opentrack

glasses? or windows or other reflective surfaces while you use bms?
have you tested it on other apps - games? -
I had a jittery TrackIR problem in the afternoon only for a while and it drove me crazy. I eventually figured out that the window at my back was being lit by the setting sun. The window has blinds to keep the sun out and they worked - but they are metal and the sun warmed them. Or maybe some IR light got reflected through? Anyway, I added a blackout shade and that was a huge improvement.
Later, as I played more often I became unsatisfied with the accuracy and stability of my TrackIR. I upgraded the hat clip to the usb-powered track clip pro and that also made a big positive difference.
I use Yassy’s profile and it works great for me.

Just a heads-up: Several users of Opentrack have experienced stuttering recently. It seems to be related to the PS3Eye camera which may have been affected by a Windows update. The problem is that the fps of the camera fluctuates wildly between eg. 2 and 75 fps which leads to jumps in view position and stuttering.
The solution that worked for me and others has been to reinstall the PS3Eye drivers. In my case the drivers were exactly identical to the ones already installed but the process of reinstalling must have made a difference. The fps of the camera is far more steady now.
