Why must reset pedals after computer restart?
-
I got Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttle. CH pedals. Whenever I shutdown or restart my computer I have to go to the BMS Setup/Controllers to reset the A/B - Idle and my CH pedals Rudder Axis, X-axis, Y-axis. Why, when I have the following files?

Check your calibration files are not flagged read-only - check …/user/config/axismapping.dat and axismapping_tmp.dat in particular.

Hi
I have the same controllers and never need to reset them. I guess something is wrong in you setup
If you want I can send you my devicesorting.txt to check
Good luck!

Malc, Neither of the two files were flagged read-only. Also checked all the files in the config directory and none of them were read-only.
Caldero, Could you just copy and paste your devicesorting.txt to your response, like I put my devicesorting.txt in the first post to this thread.
Hope you guys got more suggestions.

Hi jc1
Here you go my devicesorting.txt & my devicedefaults.txt (from this file I copied only the relevant parts Thrustmasters & CH products). Good luck!

Now please add the axismappings for this controller here and REMOVE the ‘#’ before the GUID inr order to activate them ! You may remove this line then.

Could you check the datestamps of both files and report them please?
Once you have done the Setup stuff being sure to hit Apply and/or OK on completion, then check the datestamps - the last date modified should be compliant with now (i.e. when you hit Apply or OK)

Caldero,
I noticed that your DeviceSorting.txt had HOTAS Throttle and Stick so I added
{0402044F-0000-0000-0000-504944564944} “Joystick - HOTAS Warthog”
{0404044F-0000-0000-0000-504944564944} “Throttle - HOTAS Warthog”
I didn’t have any of the other devices you got so I didn’t add them to DeviceSorting.txt.
I noticed you had axis for the throttle and stick in DeviceDefaults.txt so I addedJoystick - Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog
GUID = {0402044F-0000-0000-0000-504944564944}
AXIS_PITCH = Y
AXIS_ROLL = XThrottle - Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog
GUID = {0404044F-0000-0000-0000-504944564944}
AXIS_THROTTLE = RZ
AXIS_THROTTLE2 = Z
AXIS_ANT_ELEV = SLIDER0
AXIS_CURSOR_X = X
AXIS_CURSOR_Y = Y
I also noticed that you had the axis for CH Pedals commented out. I did the same.
Then, in response to Malc’s concern about datestamps, I did a history of timed events for the datestamps.Malc,
Here’s a history of the timed events.
09:37 changed Falcon settings
09:37 checked files .dat = 09:37 tmp.dat = 09:37
09:38 exit Falcon
09:39 RESTART computer
09:40 checked files .dat = 09:37 tmp.dat = 09:37
09:42 start Falcon
09:42 checked Falcon settings Good!
09:44 open Falcon training mission
09:45 exit Falcon
09:45 checked files .dat = 09:37 tmp.dat = 09:37
09:47 SHUTDOWN computer
09:48 TURN ON computer
09:49 checked files .dat = 09:37 tmp.dat = 09.37
09:51 start Falcon
09:52 checked Falcon settings No Good!!
09:52 checked files .dat = 09:37 tmp.dat = 09:51Notice at 09:42 settings were good,
then at 09:52 they were no good.
The difference between the period 09:39 to 09:42 and the period 09:47 to 09:952 is that
at 09:39 I RESTART the computer and
at 09:47 I SHUTDOWN AND TURN ON the computer.
At 09:52 the .dat and tmp.dat files were no longer the same. -
Thanks for the info - it actually sounds as expected!
Not ideal and a bit of a hack, but would you mind trying - once you have your controllers set up exactly as you would like them, go back to Config dir and mark as “Read Only” the axismapping.dat and the joystick.cal files to see if this works for you?

It didn’t work. I did what you said: Set the controllers, marked files read only. Wrote down the datestamps for the axismapping.dat and joystick.cal files. Shut down computer. Turned on computer and checked the datestamps of the files. The datestamps did not change. Started Falcon and went to check the setup for the controllers. The controller setup was no longer any good. Before exiting Falcon I checked the datestamps of the files and, to my surprise, the datestamps had changed. Somehow–-starting Falcon and checking the setup—changed the files even though they were marked read only.

Sorry, I’m out of ideas - will take is to Dev to see if anyone else has a solution for you.

Hi again jc1
What a strange issue…
Do you use TARGET for hotas warthog? I do, and I have to run it (BMS profile) before running BMS

RegardsMalc, I’ve had this problem for a long time and researched all the BMS forums, even the WWW, and never could find a solution. So I started this thread. I hope the Devs could do something, but if not I know they’re working other stuff that makes Falcon a great sim since they got involved way back. Thanks for your help.
Caldero, yes I use TARGET and run it before running BMS. Thanks for your help.
