Zoom In and Out keys for TGP
-
Since my rudders bust a spring, I’ve had to swap rudder control to the RNG rotary on the TQS as a temp measure. Would someone be able to advise the alternative keybinds for the TGP view zoom in and out please? I’ve had a skirt through the keys list but can’t seem to find their description.
TIA

SimRangeknobup & simRangeknobdown
These are slightly bugged, they change FCR radar range in AA mode. Range knob does not do that.

Considering you (should) only use rudder on ground, you can also enable roll-linked NWS (in Setup tab), and use your X-axis as a rudder.

I was pretty sure that that was a belgian air force limitation, and not a universally adhered to one.

There have been many posts on this board stating that the F-16 pilot should not use rudder in-flight already, so how do you mean this was a BAF restriction?

Im just pointing out that the manufacturers manual doesnt prohibit use of the rudder. Certain USAF manuals give advice on using the rudder in flight - in fact one of them is included with every BMS install (MCH F-16v5). I also recall reading on this forum at least one person saying that in the case of the belgian air force, they definitely DO have such a restriction, regardless of the manual permitting it.

Moslty during landing (flare) … but it is true that pilots are actualy using some rudder inputs in combat.

Okay, must’ve missed those posts.
Still, it’s one temporary solution to solve the issue of not having rudder pedals, that avoids him having to re-map his profile. -

This might be a good solution - can I ask how well it works during landing after I have touched down and am aerobraking? Will the X axis input affect rudder rather than roll when I am WoW? I usually use rudder to keep straight on the runway after touching down, but before I have to enable NWS. Actually I think I may have answered my own question here…
Sorry for the perhaps obvious questions, but am at work right now and have no access to the manuals, etc.

when you have weight on the nose wheel, then the roll inputs should be seen as rudder inputs (as long as NWS is enabled).
-
Another solution might be to have range assigned to the TQS by default and use target/foxy to program the shifted layer so that you can use pinky shift + rng knob for rudders?

I use the roll-linked quite often, for example when travelling (with gaming laptop) or when on my secondary site. It works very well.
The (aerodynamic) rudder control under two wheel aerobraking isn’t the best, so I often end a bit offset. Then I just try to get the nose wheel down, and then roll-linked works very well. For taxiing it is perfect already. It’s that small couple of seconds when it is not very good, and even then it is workable. For eg on take-off NWS off I can slightly veer sideways by roll linkede, even when I am already gathering speed. You just have to be slightly careful not to apply too much aeileron with the link.
But I am positive that it is better than using a knob.

I’m having the same problem. I just watched Krauses excellent TGP tutorial but I cannot change the TGP zoom at all. Wide / naro works fine, but I’ve tried both assigning ctrl-f3/f4 and the rngknob on my cougar, but neither work.
Any idea what could be wrong? I tried the bms_keystrokes_16 and the dunc_dx file which I’m currently using.
Thanks Uwe
EDIT Never mind my bad. The range knob in BMS was assigned to some weird, non-existent cougar axis. I reassigned it to the range knob, now everything seems to work fine!

Is TGP the sensor of interest (i.e. has a white border around the MFD screen)?

Thanks Agave, just found the problem (the range knob in bms wasn’t assigned to the proper cougar axis, my bad)
Cheers, Uwe
