Flight behavior in TEs: how do I?
-
I don’t know if this is the right forum for this question but I couldn’t find a more appropriate one.
I would like to ask if - as TE designer - I can force a flight to have a specific behavior. For instance I would like to change how aggressively the pilots will react to threats up to the point of making them flight their route independently of what is happening around them. Is it possible? -
Sure. Fly with humans, they’re pretty flexible that way.
Jk, I know ya only do SP. Can you be more specific regarding “threats”? AG? AA? Independently and aside from the AI commands options I don’t think there’s an option like that……
-
Stalker, you’re cheating mate, that sig of yours - it’s not a pilot in an aircraft firing a missile
it’s a dude in a buick on the motorway with a helmet on his head. You can see the lane lines in the helmet’s reflection …for the question, no I don’t think you can force AI to do that

I was thinking about AA threats. The idea was to have a group of enemy aircrafts to fly their route ignoring me while I get close

I guess you could turn on “invulnerability” and pretend they are not shooting at you?
-
still not seeing that damn Buick
-
no but you see the lane lines don’t you…

Put them friendly (or maybe neutral team might work too)
of course then they won’t engage you but you can engage them (court martial isn’t for real anyway) -

Is it possible?Unfortunately, no. We’ve been looking for this with our VFW as well, so we could predefine specific setups to train and fly, but had no luck in finding anything. If anyone does, I’d kindly request you let us know.
My dream is that BMS someday implements a system like ArmA, where you can set AI to “Careless”, where they don’t respond to anything, and then use triggers to change their combat behaviour. (Those triggers could also be useful for other things, especially in TEs. E.g. to launch AI-controlled QRA, without the need to set that up as a mission maker)
There is one sort of way to adjust the aggressiveness, though. Ace AI does do things slightly different than Rookie AI, so you can play with that a bit to see what takes your fancy.

@RD I have people at sww looking into it; we’re studying it closely. Standby for additional……
btw- we have a sww patch that is awarded for successful completion/execution of Kotar Range Ops. So ty for that!

Can’t you have humans roleplay the adversary like in Red Flag/Green Flag et al? Like Aggressor pilots

this is indeed where MP with humans really has an edge. You can’t do it unless you do it with human. I guess that’s what most Vfw or training unit do

Yes, human adversaries are an option, and one we’ve used a few times in the past, flying both as BLUFOR and as Aggressors for other teams.
Unfortunately, our mindset seems to scare away a lot of people, so within the BVT, we don’t have enough members to set up the scenarios we want to train (e.g. against 4 or more groups), and we don’t want to invite outside people too much if they’re only there to be shot down. (Yes, I’m aware how that sounds But that’s usually the life of an AGRS, even IRL)

Actually, now that I think about it, we can sort of do this already. A friend of mine uses these glasses for cycling:
They’re made by a spinoff of Elbit, the Israeli company that makes helmet-mounted sights.

that’s kind of a bummer

But you could use Bomber type AC with Strike missions even on ACE leve they behave more dump and most likely only start defending if the are actively engaged.

OMG–it’s the missile reflected in the pilot’s visor. It looks like a road stripe zipping by…and now I can’t unsee it! Thanks, Red Dog LOL!:p

God Damn’t Sprocket from SNL Sprockets??? that would be awesome brother. Ok, my wing mates are still analyzing my sig and should have solid intel back tomorrow - so things are looking good from my perspective that I’m not on a freeway in a Buick……stay tuned

I don’t know if this could help, but I created a TE and chose two su-27’s in training roles, and when I tried to attack them they simply turned away and kind of ran away from me, as if they were trying to avoid me. It was interesting!
