Will VoiceAttack voice recognition get better over use time?
-
Hi,
It’s my first attempt at voice recognition in general (Windows10) and VoiceAttack in particular.
I’m using the trial version for evaluation right now.
It kinda works, but still a lot of unrecognized inputs.
So i’m just wondering, will practicing with VA work, that is will it get better over time and learn from my particular pronunciation?
Does it make any sense to have each command detected say 20 times before moving on?regards,
LogicDid you do the pc session where you read to the pc? I did it twice and never had an issue

LogicThe top portion of this post may help you – tldnr; best to run through the Windows Speech Recognition Training Session at least 3 times, in a quiet environment, and speaking naturally. Can backup this ‘trained’ speech profile when done to import/revert back to when reinstalling windows, or for any other reason - link to the backup tool in the post below:

Yes, i did go through the Windows Training twice, now a third time.
I have about 95% good recognition, but still some problems on always the same commands, like “AWACS declare” for example.
I’m probably pronouncing it badly (non native speaker). -
Perhaps if you switch to the word “Chalice” in stead of “AWACS”? That will probably be harder to pronounce “wrong” so gets picked up better and is a well-used callsign for AWACS.

I’m probably pronouncing it badly (non native speaker). For training your Speech Recognition Profile for a specific word that is not getting properly recognized, open VoiceAttack Options, navigate to the Recognition Tab, and click the Utilities Menu > Add/Remove Dictionary Words
(pic is old, disregard the incorrect version number)
**Follow the instructions to add a new word to the dictionary (not “edit exisiting”) - write in the word ‘AWACS’ and check the box to Record a Pronunciation upon Finish
It will now recognized any regional pronunciation of this word exactly as you say it.**

Thanks all. I added AWACS to dictionary, checked an option that might have causing issue with my other installed language and it’s quite good now!

I put the word “abort” in the dictionary, recorded my voice as directed. Still no recognition in your app.

Hi, Jc,
Have you tried “getting creative” with your VA programming? What I mean is, as in RTB for example, program “Are/Hour tea bee” ? It doesn’t look pretty in the profile, but it has helped me at times.
AWACS could be " A wax". Whatever gives you the “recognised command” message. -
