MFD extraction to two Android tablets behind Cougar MFDs
-
Hi there.
I know this is a cheeky and lazy request, but THIS is the place for questions about BMS.
I’ve been using for years two android tablets stuck (with blue tack) behind two Thrusmaster Cougar MFDs. The software I chose was PS-UDP (https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?8495-PS-UDP-Falcon-Server-for-Android&highlight=psudp). Maybe the refresh rate was far from real-time, but it gave me the ability to get two separate MFDs images (one for each tablet), and to resize the extracted MFD to perfectly fit inside the Cougar frames. The refresh rate was not crucial for me, because what I was really interested in were the mnemonics in the MFD. As a plus, I got some additional instruments that could go on the “excess” screen area outside the frames. I digress…
Since the 4.35 update, the swap to DX11 made the screen extraction from the shared memory unusable (I believe it is a nVidia relate issue).
The question is, is there any such software that could allow me to extract the MFDs from BMS 4.35 to two different Android tablets?
Thanks for any suggestions!

I believe, as we all have found this “feature”. Wait 3-4 weeks… shrugs…

You might have to divide between the internal BMS shared memory freeze bug which will affect any extraction tool (is regonized and propabey fixed with U1) and the DX11 nvida issue that some tools such as Yame64 are facing due to their rendering method after reading from shared memory. For the second one tools like RTT and MFDE don’t experience the not display inssue on nvida GPU

Hi there
New version available of PSUdp server. Shep has fixed many things and made it compatible with .35 and its dx weirdnesses.

Another option would be to use spacedesk to have multiple android devices connected and acting as addidional touch monitors and than use whatever extraction tool you want to use to place on the android devices

I just used spacedesk and Helios following this video
It worked great with my 2 different tablets,

Good to know my tutorial was helpful to you

hmmm maybe I should give it a look… and check this.

https://i.imgur.com/jQxuswM.jpgHi Oak,
I am trying to do Exactlly what you did but I am facing a issue. I have two tablets here that I am using to extract MFDs texture with Helios (thanks for the tut, anyway). I am still in test fase so actually I am using just one tablet as monitor #3 (MFD left) plus an old 27" monitor as monitor #2 (Some panels and maps).
My monitor #2 (27") is wired connected and my monitor #3 (tablet) is connected via Spacedesk.
Ok, here is the issue: my profile is working nice when I load Helios and BMS (Tablet with MFD and monitor 27" with panels), until I enter the 3d world when the MFD extraction moves to monitor #2 and the monitor #3 (tablet) reverts to my desktop windows workstation. I am trying to figure out why this happening, because the profile is working nicely, but in the wrong monitor. Funny that before 3d, evertying shows as it is supposed to be.Any clue? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Problem solved. I had to reconfigure the appropriate monitors position in windows display setting. The #2 monitor was too “close” and side by side to monitor #3 in windows setting wich is not right. In My configuration the tablets are below the monitor #1, not side by side it. Now everything works properly.
