Pinky shift locking up buttons on X52 Pro
-
Hello,
I am using BMS 4.35 and am having the same issue on both the included .key and .pr0 files and the Falconeer files posted to this site. The various axis and buttons work great on the unshifted layer. Ministick cursor and speed brake slider all work fine. But, as soon as I depress the pinky switch and release, all the buttons on the stick stop working. The only exception is that when I use the Falconeer .key file I can still trim with the hat, even without the pinky switch being depressed. This would imply the pinky switch is stuck, but the other shifted functions don’t work. Only the trim works.
I have checked the function of the HOTAS in the windows control panel and everything works. The pinky switch clicks on and off and isn’t stuck, so I don’t think this is a hardware issue. I have read in the BMS docs about shifting getting stuck and it mentions to ensure that the switch is designated as both DX #5 and #261 in the key file, which it looks to be and I have not edited the files provided. And the pinky switch is designated as #6 in the windows control panel, so that checks out as they are off by one. Also, “set g_nHotasPinkyShiftMagnitude 256” is included in the config file, which was another check.
Not sure how to trouble shoot from here! ?? Any thoughts appreciated.

Make sure your pinky button in your Logitech/Saitek SST programing is not set to Latched. If Latched is enabled it doesn’t work as on/off switch but turns on if pressed and needs to be pressed a second time to be switched off again

Thanks, I checked and it is not latched. Also, in the sim, pressing the pinkie key doesn’t bring any of the functions back after I press it the first time.

You might look at these two parameters in the Saitek setup software ….
You need to have the ‘clutch enabled’ function OFF (not selected);
Check also that the key is not ‘latched’ in the Saitek software.
Not sure if either of those are exactly your problem, but posting just in case.

Thanks, I checked and the clutch enable is off and switch isn’t latched. I followed the installation guide in the Falconeer profile post.

Shot in the dark here,u did load your hostas, green light in hostas config.
And u did load and save the key file in the ui ?
Also try loading a different key file and see if that profile works.
Isnt the key suppossed to be 5 and 261, mine is and mine works.
Never mind i see u do have them set to 5 and 261.
And both those keys say hostas pinky shift. -
I’ve tried two .key files, the one that comes with BMS 4.35 for the X52 Pro and Falconeer. They are loaded and show up on the UI. I can look for another and try it. The .pr0 file is loaded in SST and it shows in the display on the HOTAS throttle. I don’t have an icon in the system tray for my HOTAS, but not sure if that means anything. The name of the profile scrolls in the display. I’m thinking of reinstalling BMS and the SST and starting from scratch. I’m not in a campaign right now, so I won’t lose anything. If there isn’t anything else obvious that others have seen that may be worth doing at this point.

Hmm,the only thing i use in my hostas program is the mini cursor and 2views on my scroll wheel.
Anyway good luck. -
OK, I re-installed BMS and the SST software and now everything is working as expected. I haven’t flown, but tried everything I could on the ramp and all the normal and shifted keys worked as expected. Must have gotten a corrupt file somewhere along the way. Thanks for the suggestions.

Glad you got it sorted out! I assume this isn’t the button getting physically stuck in it’s travel, or you’d have figured that out already. Wish you didn’t have to go to such extreme steps, I’d imagine STT software might have been to blame; it’s really bad and hasn’t gotten much better over the years, either.
I was gonna say that (if you’re following my step-by-step instructions) in Step 4, disabling ‘Clutch’ mode disallows latched clutch, but this feature refers specifically to the “i” button on the throttle and would not come into play for Pinky Button or Shifting issues. I’m fortunate to have a laptop to use as a test subject, even runs Win 7 as opposed to my PC here, and I always try to run through any steps I’d ask of folks who DL stuff I make to be sure I didn’t miss anything, but I really think this was some program issue since reinstallation fixed it.
If it happens again, be sure to post up. Best wishes and good luck to you!
