Mouse POV now possible with Opentrack stopped - Bonus in 4.35.1
-
I just noticed that in 4.35.1 if you stop Opentrack from within in-game you can now use the mouse for panning (by holding down RMB). Then start Opentrack again to resume headtracking. So you can basically switch between head tracking and mouse pan seamlessly.
This was not possible in earlier versions, if Opentrack was even installed on the computer the mouse pan would not work.
This is a huge help typically for ramp start, so thanks go out to whoever made this change to the code
Cheers,

Oh, i must be missing something.
That doesnât work for me.
Whatâs your settings, please? Both BMS and Opentrack. -
These are my settings currently:

I have same BMS settings and even installed the latest OpenTrack 2.3.13.
But no way, it doesnât work.
Do you use Freetrack 2.0 Enhanced for Output? What are the options there, please? -
I run opentrack 2.3.12 and yes, the Freetrack 2.0 Enhanced for output. The only option there is set to âEnable bothâ in my case.
Silly questions to cover the basics: Do you turn off (Stop) Opentrack when in 3D in BMS? And you run BMS 4.35.1 ?
-
No luck.
The test i do:- Start Opentrack application.
- Start Tracking.
- Launch BMS (4.35U1)
- Commit to 3D.
- Stop tracking using the opentrack keybind.
- Mouse look does NOT work. (neither without button, nor with right button held)
I have also tried various other orders of launching BMS, OpenTrack and starting tracking but with same result.
Thing is, what you pretend is really a huge thing!
A ton of users have complained and are still doing it every other week on various Discord channels that this doesnât work.
Other people tell them they have to live with it - and it sucks!
So if you have found a solution we really need to find out how you did it.
Also, i went through the change logs for 4.35U1 again, and it seems the devs donât even pretend to having fixed anything even remotely related. So i doubt this is related to U1.
Maybe your setup or some other external program you run?
So in order to avoid any confusion, can you tell again step by step what you do? -
I first start Opentrack which does not start tracking right away. I then launch BMS from AL which triggers Opentrack to start tracking.
One thing which may be relevant is that my mouse does not control FOV, I have a slider on the throttle which does that. So when panning with the mouse I can not zoom with the mouse wheel as you would normally be able to. And another thing is that I use a legacy NPClient64.dll from this thread: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?38514-Unable-to-look-around-with-mouse-or-keybinds&highlight=npclient64.dll. I started using that older DLL some time ago before 4.35, but it made no difference back then. Not until now with 4.35.1 (did not test in 4.35.0).
I have uploaded this video:
(should be ready very soon). It is the ground ops TE.In the video, I start in the pit with Opentrack started and headtracking running as can be seen from my view panning. At 0:14, I use the âStop trackingâ command which I have mapped to F9. I then pan using the mouse RMB, note the cursor appearing before panning occurs and panning being less smooth. At approx. 0:27 I command âStart trackingâ (mapped to Shift+F9) at which point I am back on head tracking and mouse pan is not working anymore.
If the devs have not explicitly made this improvement, maybe it has been a side effect of some other improvements. It has worked with TrackIR for years.

Bingo!
Itâs that NPClient64.dll that makes the difference!
(I dont think BMS version does make a difference)
I wasnât aware of that âhackâ and i think a lot of other people arenât.
This should put in the HotList or a central OpenTrack post if there is one.
Thanks a lot for your patience with this.
I donât know what it implies to run with the older DLL, but this changes my life! -
I do think the BMS version makes a difference. I switched to that DLL back with 4.34 and could not make it work. But glad that you are sorted now!
