FoxVox Free voice control software for BMS
-
@oldtommyboy Actually have mine setup that way.
Used a ptt for UHF for ATC, Ground and Tower, just the way I set it up for some reason. That covers ground, tower, approach/departure.
Then have another VHF ptt for Wingman, Element, Flight, AWACS, and JTAC.Both of the PTT’s correlate to the Viper radio ptt’s in pit also. So if anyone was on the Tower freq, when I push to talk FoxVox listens and anyone on that freq would hear my voice speak. I also have the pilot voice set to off so that it’s not repeated by the computer voice.

@TxMtb ok,thats what was thinking.
Thx
Ill mess with it some more -
@oldtommyboy For a little clarification on the global PTT: when defined, the global PTT applies to all voice groups except any that have an overriding local PTT set up. An individual PTT will always take precedence over the global.
Sorry for the confusion on editing the name - it’s a double-click-to-edit operation.
-
@oldtommyboy As to defining PTT, you don’t have to use the global ptt and you can duplicate the same ptt on multiple voice groups and have others defined differently. Mix and match is all OK.
-
@foxster thanks for that. no worries !!!
-
Here’s a slightly modified library for 4.36.1 which corrects the first wingman menu and adds two new commands:
two Weapons Free Air --> Weapons Free Air to Air
two Weapons Free Ground -> Weapons Free Air to Ground

PS: On another note the element and flight commands will probably also require fixing / editing
I’ll have a look.
Cheers, Uwe

@hoover yep they will, also added " say again " to the jtac menu and i think i had to change something else after going thru bms manual showing all commands.
Did a little rearranging too.
Like added qnh to ground menu instead of tower but thats just me -
@foxster tip of my hat to you sir, getting things sorted now, have a couple issues but not many, still messing around with words here and there .
Very pleased with this and the support and attention you give.
All for free,so thankyou sir,salute! -

Updated version with added weapons free air / weapons free ground commands and corrected numbers for check six, clear six, weapons hold and attack targets for both element and flight.

@hoover said in FoxVox Free voice control software for BMS:
Hey foxster,
I’m just trying out the latest release, and I’m seeing a lot of invalid voice recognition attempts from foxvox when it shouldn’t even be listening (with “push to talk” enabled).
would it be difficult to turn off Voice recognition completely when PPT is enabled and the button combo is not pressed? that’s the only time I want foxvox to listen for commands, it should be turned off / inactive / not attempting to make sense of all other sound inputs when the PTT button is not pressed / active.
All the best,
Uwe
I noticed when i set individual ppts that the program listens all the time.
So i went back to the global ppt ,what was your solution ?
I also set the timer to 3 seconds but that didnt seem to help when using individual ppts.
Thx -
@oldtommyboy The program listens but nothing will execute. I found it helpful to know when it was ptt vs missed recognition when a command didn’t fire during development and even during play but others have requested to turn it off. I have an option in the upcoming version that will allow you to disable recognition notifications (actually it will be the default behavior and you have to toggle them on). I also have some more enhancements like remembering its window position.
-
@foxster thx, yeah i noticed it hears but dosent execute.
It didnt seem to regonize alot even when i i used ptt.
Took a long time to decide even though time out was set at 3 seconds .
When i had it set on global, it was working good and regonizeing most my commands.
So now i switched back to the global ptt,i,ll check tomorrow .
No big deal either way.
Thx -
@oldtommyboy It is possibly caused by background noise or a sensitive microphone. I get problems from my computer fan running high unless I use a headset. Just something else to consider. It causes the recognition not to detect the end of speech.
-
@foxster ok,thx
Yeah i use a headset and mic. -
@foxster ok,i reset it to global settings, took a flight, much better.
Seemed like when using individual ptt and it listening to everything,it just took a lot longer processing everything it hears.
Does that make sense ? -
@oldtommyboy yes, I’ll look into performance with individual ptt defined.
-
@foxster thanks , no rush here.
-
@oldtommyboy please am new to BMS, can you give me a brief tutorial how to set up foxvox in BMS? Thanks, with regards
-
There’s not much to set up really. run foxvox, make sure to use a headset with a decent microphone, load the BMS library, launch BMS and see how it goes!
“All” foxvox does is sending keypresses to the BMS window which you’d otherwise enter manually. For instance,
“w 1”
would open the wingman menu (“w”) and tell your wingman to “attack my target” (1), so when foxvox recognizes the phrase “two attack my target” (which you verify in voxfox’s log window) it’ll send the appropriate keypresses to BMS.
