Boeing E-3 Sentry AWACS

Wow… That’s really cool. Damn it looks pretty!
-
Looks good. Now we just need to change the rotation rate of the roto-dome. That thing looks like its going to spin off when the max RPM is 6 in RL!
-
Impresive work! I really like it!
-
Beautiful work. The first pic had me fooled to thinking it was the real thing. :)Cheers.
-
Totally amazing. I can’t wait to fly escort for your E-3. Do you have any screenshots of the USAF or RAF versions?
-
Whoa!!! Very nice dude, it will be a pleasuere fly with it
Salu2!!

It’s alive… I mean, finally ready!
There are some minor issues, however, due to texmapping… but that’s a model thing and there’s nothing I can do about it. Fortunately, they are barely noticeable. Overall, I think it looks very nice, I’m quite proud of this one! My first skin for BMS
Now all I have to do is change the decals and basic colour layers to make the USAF and RAF versions. Should be posting a download link in the next couple of days.
Maybe you can do a tanker skin after this one?
Sure! KC-135 is definitely next on my list.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous! And it looks even funnier in the UI TacRef/Arming screens
Velocidad y altura, conservan la dentadura
Una verdad incuestionable
Thanks to all of you for your kind comments!

Nice work bud!

Thanks, Bonedust!
Some screens of the USAF version…
(BTW, the flag’s orientation is correct on the starboard side according to reference photos)
… and Royal Air Force:
PumpyHead has volunteered to fix the mapping issues… if you take a close look at the leading edge of the wings you will notice some weird texture overlapping, which is somewhat annoying. While you’re at it… you think you could give the Brit version CFM-56 engines (like the KC-135R we already have in BMS has) and the IFR probe? That would be awesome
EDIT: ooops, I just noticed a small error in the RAF skin… it’s fixed now:

Awesome Work, Maybe he could add some windows too!!!

Maybe he could add some windows too!!!
Actually the mission compartments have no windows except over the wings and aft/fwd entry doors

I think he’s referring to the flightdeck windows.

good job skinning.

please also detail canopy part, build a new, smoother radar disc, upgrade landing gear, and animate AAR door and control surfaces. thanks.

Does anyone know who the modeler for the E-3 is? Before I do any work on it, I’d like their permission. Also, if I have time to add the other engines, I’ll need the name of the modeler for the KC 135.

You may want to contact BaldEagle. He’s our Man.;)

AFAIK the basic Boeing 707 airframe is converted from freeware MSFS model, probably FS98, by Fred.
extra parts, texture-mapping, and first sets of skins are done by Fred.the model has been available to SP/FF/OF for long time.
-
That is one amazing skin in every detail and I can only imagine how long that must have taken with all that texture area! Outstanding skin! Thank you.

Donwloading que es gerundio!!!
Thanks!!!

Here’s a suggestion for the refueller’s skin
That one was seen landing at Kadena
Here’s a nice reference of Korean & japanese based aircraft

Here’s my thought about the Sentry: It is not an aircraft you would generally see in theatre as you are flying unless you are flying HAVCAP. Even then, you would not normally fly close enough to see into the windows. Consequently, is it worth adding a 1,000 tirangles or so to add windows and a flight deck and detailed landing gear?
If the consensus is that it’s worthwhile doing so, I can probably trade off extra triangles for mapping LOD2 and LOD3 to the new skin and changing the LOD1 to LOD2 distance from 5,000 to 500 or so.
What’s everyone’s thoughts?
