Solved Is it possible to DX Shift an axis?

Is it an actual axis (with fixed lower/upper bounds) or is it an “encoder” wheel … that generates events as you rotate it… potentially spinning forever in one direction – something like a mousewheel.
its an axis:
-
@jstnj that wheel is indispensable for FOV for me - so I use the paddle switch as DX shift + an up/down hat to easily adjust antenna.
-
I’m using the red “china hat” on the throttle (non shifted) for ant elev and find it very handy and much easier to control than an analog axis.
Maybe you could simply dx-shift the function currently on the china hat and replace it with its shifted version, using the unshifted function for ant elev?
All the best,
Uwe

Axes are not possible to shift. Shifting adds 256 to an existing button number, so DX1 becomes DX256 as an entirely separate button assignment, but axes do not change at all.

thanks for confirming…unfortunate

@jstnj even so you might achive something like a shifted axis with 3rd party I don’t see that as practical at all. i.e as in your use case you have your axis physically set to a certain value on Radar elevation. No you shift and move the axis to get another zoom. as soon as you shift back to Rdr Elev it’ll jump to whatever you set moved for zoom and vice versa. So in order to not interfere the shifted / non shifted axis you would have to move the backto the previous position before switching. Makes no practical sense for me at all

yeah i actually do this in MSFS and it works ok. I use the same axis for prop RPM as I do mixture. I get it though, can be annoying.

Again give the china hat a try for ANT ELEV. I got used to it when converting from the cougar to the warthog in no time at all.
Cheers, Uwe

<p>Hi,<br /><br />Just checking - being unable to “shift” or change a dx axis is also true if it is in I O U M D modes in TARGET or in Joystick Gremlin modes, isn’t it? Those mode changes only apply to buttons and don’t change the axis output being reported?<br /></p>

<p>@mypc No, TARGET “shifting” is perfectly useable. From Falcon’s point of view you aren’t doing any shifting at all.</p>
