F-16 new vapor effect
-
@kouzi - Hi, First of all let me say that we integrated your work into the BMS install by default for 4.36 Update 1 that will come sometime in the coming weeks/months. Big thanx for your work!
Regarding the difference between 4.35 and 4.36, the problem was that trail0.dds apparently isn’t part of 4.36, so the effect didn’t show because of the missing texture (PS code won’t run the effect if the texture isn’t defined). Use vapor0/1 instead and it’ll show fine.
Now, regarding the large cloud effect, TBH I didn’t liked it so didn’t integrated it. The code will be in ParticleSys.ini but is disabled (run command commented).
What I do suggest however if you want such effect, is to define it as an additional chain (in .dat file) rather than calling a trail from PS ini. A trail feels very “rough” (IMHO at least) as it “moves by” naturally due to trail behavior, I think a static chains definitions that will be very gentle in alpha and above the wing as a “cloud” (But not too large, means you will probably need more than one) will look better I believe. But anyway I wouldn’t start such effect at level 0, maybe level 1 or maybe even just level 2.Cheers!

You might disagree but original does look more natural across the surfaces in most instances depending on air density and moisture, because the mod looks more like the sonic boom effect.
So unsure what you are seeking to achieve.
TRUE TO REAL EFFECTS

It’s very cool. Looks much more realistic now. Congratulations, it’s a big work. And, of course, thanks for share with community!!!

Great work, looks really good and with sound a cool increase in immersion.
I wanted to get sth like this to work on the F-14 for a long time, is there a limit to the vapor creation spots and can they be placed anywhere on the surfaces? Is there only one mode for vaport creation or can there be several? I ask due to the swing-wing positions leading to different vaporization effects.
-
hi
the vapor creation spots can be placed anywhere on the surfaces, must be in a fixed position, can’t put swing-wing position.
I use notepad software write code, I don’t know if there is another way.

@Kouzi - I thought that your mod was already included in the official base install.
Is that NOT the case…?

Available in selected threads…
Good to see you back, dude.
Knew you WOULD be, just wasn’t sure if I would still be alive to see it…!How did that car project of yours turn out…?
@Kouzi - cheers, dude. Guess that I will have to download from this thread to update your vapour in the base install.

@Aragorn I got much further with it than the Tomcat thanks to being able to export from Blender to editor and from there to in-game. Learned lots about mapping, animation, etc. which I’ll have to do again in 3DS and the Falcon editor most likely so yeah…
@kouzi thanks for the info on the vapor. I’ll most likely go with static vapor effects on and around the glove area and for the wings set vapor only for certain speeds and AoA when the wings are fully forward. Glancing at the text file that should be no problem.
