Not quite home made landing gear lever help
-
What I’m trying to do is connect this old L/G lever, along with the test light/lock release buttons to my BMS and DCS sims. I’ve bought a few arduino boards, but I’m completely clueless unless I can read the connection directions from a “arduino for f’n idiots” manual. Does anyone have any idea of how I can set up this? I’ve been able to to map most of the wires and where they go, but I just don’t know how to translate that into directions that the sim would capisce.
Let me know if you need any more info. Thank you in advance.

@supa325
You could use (most any) Arduino or equivalent clone microcontroller to create a joystick device that Windows (and BMS) can recognize as a USB plug-n-play device.This is the method I used - includes decent instructions:
https://github.com/MHeironimus/ArduinoJoystickLibraryBeyond that, you can check out basic electronics tutorials on YouTube for the types of switches/buttons/axes you want to wire up to a microcontroller, if/when/where to put resistors, where to wire ground/etc. etc.
If you have any specific questions, happy to help if I can. I know there are plenty of savvy DIY people here, you’re not alone.

@semlerpdx thank you. I have a couple of different arduino boards, but I wasn’t sure if they were all capable of doing what I’m trying to accomplish. I will check out the link. I really appreciate it.
