Greetings all. Brand new to Falcon BMS. I have windows 11 and I can’t get my computer to recognize my Thrustmaster Hotas 1. I know it works because it works on my Xbox 1. I know the USB’s are good because my regular Xbox 1 controllers are recognized when I plug them in. My computer is a HP laptop with an Intel I7 processor. 64 bit. Help?? I’ve tried reinstalling the drivers and Direct X. No luck.

      Thanks in advance.

Just to clarify … is it recognized in Windows but not in BMS? (or neither)

If you Start / Run / “Joy.cpl” does it show up?

@airtex2019 Windows doesn’t see it. I plug it in and nothing happens. If I plug in any other USB device, the device is recognized. There are only 2 USBs on the laptop.

I know the Thrustmaster works and the cord is okay because it works just fine on my Xbox1

                +1.

Thrustmaster (and Logitech as well) peripherals just don’t like to be connected in any other else way - or this is what I learned at my own expenses in the past years.

Hope it helps in some way.

                With best regards to all.

                  Hi,

When you say “nothing happens”, could you please verify if you did try what airtex suggested? Also, do you have any yellow exclamation points in the Device Manager window ?

Otherwise, reinstall of drivers sometimes requires you to NOT have the device plugged in while the driver is installed. Typically, the install procedure will prompt you to plug it in when it is ready for that.

Especially since this is W11, there could be something here.

Have you tried uninstalling the drivers, unplug the device, restart, install driver, restart, plug in?

@jayb the Thrustmaster doesn’t show up at all. No yellow exclamation. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the drivers many times. It’s not Falcon’s fault. It is 100% my computers fault. I am just stumped why my computer won’t see it.

If I plug in a regular Xbox controller, it shows up right away. It’s so weird…

@handyflyer1 Able to try it on another PC? (friend, work, or school PC)

Also maybe try different ports … especially if some are dedicated USB 2 vs USB 3 / 3.1 etc

otherwise I’m out of ideas too

                        @handyflyer1

It may be Thrustmaster’s “fault”, not your computer. Several people complain about flight sim peripherals in general that are not working in W11. The main reason is that the drivers for W11 have not been released yet.

So its either that or that your drivers for W10 are good for W11 as well, but that W11 prevents them from being used somehow. When you run the install of the drivers, could you select to run in some compatibility mode and of course in administrator mode?

This is a driver install program for my track ir camera. I am on W10. If I right-click that file, I get the option to run in compatibility mode:

Maybe Windows 11 has something similar and you could try that. And again, do run in administrator mode once you have changed the compatibility

@jayb It won’t let me run in compatibility mode. Ughh.

Here’s a new twist. I bought a Thrustmaster T.16000, I has two USB inputs. One for the throttle and one for the joystick.
My computer INSTANTLY recognizes the throttle and all inputs from it. Also inputs from the rudder that’s plugged into the throttle. On either USB input.
When I plug in the joystick nothing. In either USB input. This is getting weirder by the moment…
                          Uggghhh

Could you plug your joystick into the throttle then, so use the throttle as a USB hub?

A little bit weird that it will not allow you to change compatibility settings.

Are you logged in as an administrator on your computer ? Maybe your user profile is less empowered. Check under Accounts, “Your info” - under my name it says “Administrator”

Unfortunately, the plug in on the throttle is for a old school ohone. Pretty sure it’s a RJ11. But a good idea.
And yes. I made double sure I’m running the TMaster as an administrator.
I just played Star Wars Squadrons on my Xbox for an hour and the joystick works flawlessly.

One more item. When I plug the joystick into my computer USB, the joystick does power up. There is a tiny blue light that turns on when it gets power.

                              so weird…

Do you have any TM software installed? My guess is it’s doing something to get in the way of device enumeration on Win11. (Haven’t heard anyone else complain tho, so 🤷)

                                1. with device unplugged … launch Device Manager (devmgmt.msc)

                                2. on the menubar => View / Devices by Container

                                3. plug in your device … wait a few seconds, it should refresh to show something like this

Let me know what you see…

@airtex2019 It looks like I have it installed.
When I plug in the joystick, nothing happens. I’m not sure how to add a screenshot so you can see it.

When I add a regular Xbox controller, it shows up. The joystick, not so much.

Under my apps for the computer, it shows Thrustmaster as one of them available.

Hmm… oh wait, is this one of the devices with the little switch – PC vs XBox?

I think this is because XBox has some proprietary restrictions on USB device compatibility.

This wouldn’t explain the weirdness with the T.16000M tho. 😕

It must be win11 thing NOT Thrustmaster… how long till win10 was fixed for gamepads support, remember … 1 year or more, sometime back in 2019-2020 …
When connected., in device manager, does yellow question mark shows or “unknown device” under usb, maybe you’ve missed… it is strange that just nothing shows… maybe you can reset the stick to default… who knows, have you EVER programmed it ?

                                        Cheers

ps. for those with VKB expensive dildos, I won’t even ask …
