      Tired of being left behind?

Here is an airbrake sound modded to have a distinct beep as an indication.

Unknown author for the original beep sound. I have overlayed it onto the the BMS brakwind.ogg sound file.

Put it in C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Sounds and backup old one.

A decent audioeditor can generate tones like a beep easily, so don’t worry about copyrights, I would say. The sinuswave is not copyrightable, as far as I know. 😉

Who are using a Cougar here? (no need of this beep sound if you set your AB switch like in real F-16)

hmm, I could whip up an edited version of the current brakwind, for those interested. I’m quite proficient with Cool Edit.

With permission of the Devs, of course, I’d like to make one with a beep, and one with higher volume, without the beep.
That way people can choose if they want the beep or the higher volume version.

For me no problem… as for the touchdown sound, we can add it in the Sound folder by naming it 1 and 2 … in any cases, the default one will remain the most realistic one.

But that beep is TOTALY unrealistic … IMO, rather use a stronger aerodynamic sound! …

but as I said … If you have a Cougar, just put you AB rocker forward when you don’t use AB, so that, you know at anytime that you AB is closed…

We use that beep in FF, it seems to be in fact the same file. And it’s totally unrealistic tbh, I always begged to remove it.
I recall telling my teammates that the current BMS sounds are spot on reg. Betty and cockpit as far as I heard, and saw in tons of videos.
But indeed it helps keeping your SA in a fight.

LOL, the point of this mod is that it will let you know that your brakes are ‘open’. Just one of those things that can be forgotten and not perceived in the heat of a battle which is why such mods have been around for years.

This is an edited version of the original bms sound file.

The beep has a very nice tone and pitch which is why I used it instead of making a new one.

I wanted to give credit to the original author for the generating tone and aerobraking sound and putting them together (both of which I’ve used).

Of course the sinuswave is not copyrighted and I didn’t say it was.:wfish:

Is there a mod for afterburner sound to make it more distinctive (harsher) than the normal engine sound?

                            Thanks,

                                    +1.
But to be fair I think he meant the overall outside power. TBH Lock On was the only ‘sim’ so far (really the only) that got that brutally loud, especially with mods.
But I agree, inside is what counts and here BMS is unmatched.

                                      My .02?

You can look to the left aux console and see whether the speedbrakes are open or not.
You can look at fuel flow, nozzle position or rpm and know whether you’re in afterburner.

Situational Awareness is a HUGE part of being a good pilot - never mind being a good fighter pilot. These kinds of things should be second-nature and something you just ‘know.’ (In particular the AB…your hand is on the throttle, is it not?)

I’m not a fighter pilot IRL, but BMS has done an outstanding job with cockpit sounds, IMO.

                                      Carry on.

Actually the fuel flow indicator itself generates a rattle sound inside cockpit (= not in helmet ear set, it is not VMS warning / not necessary hearable by the pilot if he is wearing ear proofs) when in AB as an additional “audio” warning to the pilot. This sound has been extracted and provided to the devs already.

Well, I’m going to make a louder volume version of brakwind then anyways. I’ll have it done in a couple of hours. I’ll also make a softer version of the sound that indicates data-link is on… personally, I find it a bit annoying when you have to listen to that for 1.5 hours. But I wouldn’t want to tweak more. I understand much research went into this soundpack.

                                            Hi all,

I understand and respect all responses after my above post all good with me.

Sounds are good no complaint, just my opinion!

Just a thought here, pilots to don’t fly outside plane looking at plane like superman. LoL

So what I was suggesting is when you are looking at plane from outside add the Sonic Boom sound and effect!

************** Also add some sound and effects along the water like this real B1B Lancer pic, awesome!

I really enjoy this stuff It feels awesome, to pull it off!

                                            Anyway its all fun imo.

                                            **Thanks,
