Solved Importing Campaigns from 4.35

First of all, congrats for the great work on bringing F4 to the highest level. Just get back into the game after 20 years, as many colleagues here, after I found out it is still alive. It is impressive the work you all have done.

I have been playing a Balkans campaign on the last few weeks and tried to simply copy the saved files to the new campaign folder on 4.36 but I receive an error message when trying to load it from the UI and it CTD. Is there anyway to continue playing the campaign from 4.35?

Importing existing campaign saves to new version isn’t supported for multiple reasons that I can’t detail here…

Do not convert old campaign saves please…

@gabrielgcosta uugh, man , that is NOT how its done.

Save games are almost never “portable” between releases.

Especially major releases , with BMS , even it is 4.35 -> 4.36 it is considered “major” release.

You’ll need to dig deeper to convert old save game for new, but is somewhat unsupported , it can be done , how it will work, its another thing. - probably not fine, but than again , difference may vary from case to case.

You may convert your whole campaign to new release, that is done with MC (mission commander, campaign mission editor, almost dev tool, not all user friendly), but seeing last posts there its a bit challenging, not quite click and run , but seems it works in the end, well, maybe wait 2-3 weeks to see experiences – you get my drft…

Just start new campaign… probably better.

But, if curious enough , and somewhat masochistic - you like to torture yourself - give it a try , but you’ll spen more time here reading then flying…

Yes as long as this is not trying to convert something else than SaveX.cam

Using an existing 4.36 saveX.cam to edit a new campaign, yes be my guest!

You can have more than one BMS at a time. Just finish your campaign in 4.35 before deleting it.
