AI cannot be brought back from guard freq
-
Suspected bug report for BMS 4.36 build 26181. There are two new commands in BMS 4.36 - “Push to uniform” and “push to victor.” During a flight I accidentally directed my AI wingman to push Uniform, which pushes him to uniform guard freq, UHF 243.000. From there, to bring him back to Victor, you are supposed to switch CNI knob to backup, input guard frequency onto the backup comms panel, and switch comms from preset to manual. I followed the instructions in the comms manual (p. 43) to do this, and was unable to raise the AI on comms to bring him back to Victor. Checking VHF 15-19 and UHF guard was similarly fruitless. A.I. wingman was unreachable for the rest of the flight. Behavior was originally found in Balkans, reproduced in KTO BARCAP TE training mission. To recreate the bug, tell wingman to push Uniform, and then attempt to follow him to Uniform guard and bring him back. Expected behavior is that when you select CNI backup, input guard frequency on backup comms, select manual frequency and call for wingman to push victor, the wingman will return to the original VHF frequency.
Cheers!

BUT… I’ve tested that option (in Balkans also) and is working - fine
What is wrong… the manual, … or design?
If you see radio-list in “Briefing” page before mission, you’ll see , depending on your flight number in package - flight1,2 - 5 … that VHF and UHF concurrent channels are assigned…
- eg for Flight3 you are assigned VHF and UHF chn17 (both radios)
- BUT! - NOT GUARD as stated in manual
So, if in flight you switch between two radios , just make sure that you use ASSIGNED channels - but NOT Guard channel (243M) as said in manual
So option is working just fine… just not as described in manual - and there is no need to be in BACKUP , - UFC UHF works also fine … well except UFC inop … hehe
Seems that someone was sleeping in briefing class
Cheers

Indeed documentation is wrong (243.00 is non-sense). Will be fixed in U4.

@abradyson Heres the correct procedure. Docs are fixed for U4
- Set CNI knob to « Backup » position
- Select Backup Radio Preset equal to your VHF preset
(for example: VHF 15 = first flight in package -> set preset 15) - Make sure that the mode function knob is set to « Preset »
- Instruct AI to „Switch Flight Uniform”
