Unable to find curser lock / unlock button controls
-
Hi Guys and Girls.
Yet another awesome BMS patch. An owner of Falcon , F3 and F4 since the day it was released back in '98, the BMS guys are easiest the greatest supporter of a computer sim in the history of computer sims. And I’ve been a home computer owner (C64) since 1986.
But I am having a problem updating my joystick button controls. I’m sure the issue is not joystick related or just in case, it is a very old Saitek Cyborg evo. Mainly because I am left handed. A lefthand Virpil might be mine one day.
The issues I have is mapping the curser lock and unlock buttons. I see no such options. They maybe named something completely different but I can’t find them. I have been able to update all other joystick buttons but am unable to lock or unlock a target at this time. Help please.
The second issue is that none of the numbered buttons ‘light up’ in the control setup screen when I press any joystick button. Could be a bug.

@jagfour You say “cursor lock”. Are you trying to lock a target? Which in the real jet ( and in BMS) is done by moving the Target Management Switch (TMS) up.
-
@danster Thx for that. There has been for at least 10 years lock and unlock selection buttons that now appear to have disappeared. Never used the TMS selection before but do so now.
Unfortunately I have a new issue. I cannot change radio channel. I’ve tried the UFC and adding keys bindings to UHF channel selection up and down. Nothing works. More help please. VHF is the same issue.
-
@jagfour Have you tried using the pre sets? Typically I press Com 1 on the UFC and enter the applicable pre set e.g. 3 for Tower coms. Com 2 works the same for VHF channels usually used for intra flight coms. As you can see BMS has moved to realistic in cockpit/hotas controls although shortcuts can still be used. There are great manuals for all BMS functions. Too much to absorb in one go, but excellent for specific functions.

@jagfour
At the moment, I don’t know if there are keybindings for switching the radio channels up and down.
But if I had to give you an advise - don’t concentrate too hard on keybindings. Try to get familiar first, where the buttons are located in the real cockpit. The radio channels are usually switched on the ICP.
If you wish to switch your uniform channel from GROUND to TOWER, just hit [COM 1] on the ICP, type a “3” and push enter. If you still have “free” buttons on your cyborg, you might rather use them as UHF/VHF push-to-talk buttons… because you will need them if you want to go online (and that is where the fun REALLY starts).
Keep in mind, tons of things have changed in the last years. Became much more realistic.
I hate to say, but I would warmly recommend you invest some time and dig through the manuals.
It’s work… but it’s worth
Happy flying! -
@Amadeus75 Ok issue sorted. I figured that there might not be other pre-set channels loaded. Are, I wonder if I need to load up the tape which wasn’t needed before. And so I loaded up the tape and the pre-sets are now available. Subtle little changes like this in updates does take a while to figure out. I have been online in F4, but that is pushing a quarter of a century ago.
