If you have CTDs during 4.36 initialization (splash screen), I need your help
-
This thread is for CTDs that occur when starting BMS, thus a crash during the splash screen before even entering the main menu or movies being played.
Please, post your specs:
CPU (please tell if overclocked), GPU (with driver version), OS version and antivirus.
I am trying to see if there is a common denominator here.

I do not know what a DMP is, but i’ll give it to you if you tell me how
-
@JeffC DMP are dump files created by falcon when it crashes. You can also force falcon to generate one if it does not, see this thread: https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/20866/enabling-dump-files-at-all-times-and-creating-frozen-game-dump-files/10
-
I do have a dmp file but not enough privileges to send it.
-
@JeffC please, rar (or zip) it, and upload it to a google drive or some file sharing service so that I can download.

Thanks for sharing your dump files, but this is another bug. It can be prevented by setting the flags as described in the pinned post.

@JeffC thanks, checking.
-
@JeffC can you also share the xlog file?
-
Where is the xlog stored, i searched and not 1 i can see
-
@JeffC you will need to launch BMS with the
-mono
command-line switch added to the shortcutyou will see lots of debugging logs spew on a black and white console window … this content is also written to a xlog file, in your User\Logs directory, eg.
C:\Falcon BMS 4.36\User\Logs\2022-05-13_213112_xlog.txt

OK, I got it running. I had to take off Windows 11 and put 10 back on. Problem solved for me anyway. Not sure if there was any dx files or something in11
I did this for other reasons, but im happy -
I keep having a CTD that changes the background image to very large which makes the pc in need of a restart. Today I had a CTD that decoupled the pc from the screen & there was no way for me to restart. So I shut down and turn on but that off sets everything I did with the FSSB as it usually does. Please fix these CTDs in the next release.

@Alfred hi,
unfortunately, this is not how this works. We need your help to understand what is going on: DMP files, logs etc.
If you can provide us the DMP, it would help us identify where the problem is.
