It seems like the sounds for certain things seem to disappear after a few seconds, like when starting up and putting the BATTERY power on BATT or ON, there is normally a whirring sound that persists as long as the battery is not OFF, but now the sound disappears or goes quiet gradually but totally goes silent after a few seconds, say 10-15 seconds.
I’m practicing my landings now and noticed that on throttle idle as I was fiddling with the radios at EOR, the engine fell silent, so I throttled up to get moving, and the engine sounds came back on and there is a cycle of it going silent then maybe something triggers it and it goes on full volume again, then gradually falls silent and the cycle repeats.
Any ideas what’s going on here or is this a bug? Thanks!
@Atlas I would be careful with the bug word here, only after alone exhausted all possible options.
Till this day , no one else reported something similar … and something like that would be surely noticed.
Check your setup first , audio , BMS install , change theater… do some preliminary testing first.
I already have 100+ hours in 4.36 and not a single problem like that with audio… must be something on your side but I don’t have the magic ball.
@white_fang I only ask if it’s a bug meaning if others have experienced it before and is a known issue. No offense meant to the devs.
Of course it could fully be an issue on my end at which point I’d appreciate some guidance on how to diagnose and narrow down the issue. Currently on vanilla 4.36, no extra theatres or aircraft or anything. Modified the .cfg file and using my own .key file, using Helios and Voice Attack, plus of course TrackIR.
Sometimes, my engine sound disappeares, maybe due to fps stuttering.
My best solution for this is switching to external view and then back inside again.
Works every time.
Tested again this evening and definitely happening in the landing TE. It’s fine for most of the flight but as I finish aerobraking and I coast to a stop at EOR waiting for speed to go down so I can turn safely off the runway, the engine sounds fade into quiet. I can cycle the throttle and that will bring the sound up for a moment, then gradually goes quiet again.
EDIT: Seems like the issue is when I set audio to my headset. Not happened yet when the audio is on the TV, but only tried it 2x on the TV as I usually play with the headset.
@white_fang Sometimes I just lost every sound in cockpit and the only one way is to switch to external view and then back… But it happend in 4.35 and at least, I didnt found this issue in 4.36…maybe some glitch between graphic card and sound card (and my sound configuration is slighly weird)
Found the culprit… I was using the Chat version of my audio selection, which seems to kick in some sort of noise-cancelling after some time which would explain the gradual move to silence. Used the Game version and all is well. Perfect example of a PICNIC!! At least the confirmation that the issue was on my end got me to fiddle around with the settings a bit more so found the fix by accident. I am using a SteelSeries headset so if anyone else is having this issue, choosing the Game output may be the fix!
@Atlas M8, none offence meant/taken. I just said be careful, don’t rush it, exhaust all other culprits first
What I was thinking first, it is at the same audio page, communications, there’s that option to lower output sound when using some communications soft, so maybe that… but good, you figured it out. Nice.
@white_fang Of course no offense taken. Odd that Falcon does this when other games doesn’t but we’ve all learned that Falcon has it’s own unique set of quirks
