Auto Throttle Control for none F-18 A/C
-
One question to the FM.dat gurus, is the hasATC function linked to something else? Tried to get it working for the Typhoon, but it doesn’t work. I tried TypeAC 9 for the F/A-18 in addition to hasATC 1, but no luck. Is there possibly a link to the TEF as described in the Naval-Ops manual?

Good Day, Scorpion. I have posted your question on the BMSOFM Discord, as this is a bit above my technical “paygrade” However…
I’m assuming this is what you are referring to in the Naval manual -“Auto-throttle (F/A-18 only)
The Automatic Throttle Control (ATC, or just auto-throttle so as to not confuse it with air traffic control) is a two-mode
system that automatically maintains angle of attack (approach mode) or airspeed (cruise mode). There is no cockpit
hotspot for the auto-throttle. In the real jet the button is located on front side of the left throttle. The default key
assignment for the auto-throttle (SimF18ThrottleATC) is Shift Ctrl Alt A.
ATC APPROACH Mode – With the FLAP switch set to HALF or FULL the thrust is set to maintain the AoA when the ATC
button is pressed.
ATC CRUISE Mode – With the FLAP switch set to AUTO the thrust is set to maintain the current airspeed when the ATC
button is pressed”
If so, then yes, flap position plays a part. I don’t know if that would completely keep ATC from working though. Perhaps you could use the Alt. Launcher to make sure there is an AUTO flap callback in place. If you had such a callback, then maybe you can test the speed control function.
Also, how do you have the ATC set up? HOTAS and /or key command? Whatever your setup, perhaps try the F-18C and see if your setup works there? -
yes tried and verified all this already. No problems when flying the Hornet. Hence the thought about the flaps relationship, due to the approach and cruise modes on the Hornet. I’ll do some additional verification tests with TEF implemented in the FM, just to see whether there is a relationship or not. Found no related entry in the afm.dat either.

@Scorpion82 I tried activating the “hasATC” flag for the Tornado as well, but it didn’t work. I suspect the ATC feature is limited to the F-18 in some hardcoded way.

Good Day, All,
Here’s a current update: In your jet’s afm file, HAS NASA has to be 2.
