More Jammer Pod, more effectiveness?
-
Straight to the point guys…
If i put 5 ALQ-99 in a EA-6B (for exemple), he is become more effective then a 1 ALQ-99 in the same EA-6B??
And also… The ECM coverage for dedicated ECM AC (such as EA-6B and EF-111) is 360º or it is equal to “F-16s+Jam Pod” coverage?
Greetings from Brazil!

@VDK The ESJ in BMS is just a 30nm bubble around the jamming aircraft in which all ADs except AAA become inactive. It also does not affect enemy aircrafts. Therefore, i believe that carrying more than 2 ALQs is not practical. But when the jammer AC turns to self-defense against a threat outside of the bubble (or outside of target waypoints) it is somewhat similar to the F-16 or other AI aircraft.

40 nm.
When the threat is AD, the bubble protects the ESJ, which by definition is the center of the bubble, therefore always protected and not in need to turn to self-defense.
When the threat is aircraft, the bubble is meaningless, which can lead to self-defense, whatever the range is.
The ESJ is (if nothing changed since… some time) active for itself if the waypoint “en route” setting is jamming, and for every aircraft on the same side if the waypoint action is “jamming” (during the patrol time between the two target steerpoints, and not a second more).
(These are huge tactical problems, but I won’t go into that). -
@LorikEolmin Anyway, your video will explain it in more detail

I hope. Mission Commander can’t be used to configure the ESJ flight to work the tactical problem anymore, on my side at least.

Thank you guys!
U are awesome!My understand is:
ESJ AC (EA-6B, E/A-18G and EF-111) will have a BUBBLE (360º coverage) with aprox 40nm effective against AD.ALL AC inside this bubble will be protected, because the AD systems will be degraded.
1, 2, 3 or 4 ALQ-99 don’t make diferente (in the case of the Prowler and Growler), as long as i maintain at least 1 Jamming Pod, they will be effective anyway.
They will start jamming when the STP are designed as “jamming” and during the patrol time.

All good to me.

@LorikEolmin so the alq-99 is only activated by waypoint setting in planning? Not by activating jammer in plane when flying by human?

By waypoint of course. Even when you’re in the cockpit.

@Obi1 Exactly, yes. Even 1 ALQ is “working” … In case of EF111 , no need for ALQ-99, as it is “onboard” jammer.
But there’s that old video of @LorikEolmin duh … but!, it explains this stuff with waypoints jamming activation …
You DONT change “starting jam loop” waypoint , …any stp different then first waypoint of jam loop, or … jamming will be “terminated” … - OFF.
End of story , can’t turn it on again. Now, I had a thought bout this… what if you first went to a waypoint “above the loop” … eg … jam loop is stp5-6 … but you created more stps… eg 15-24 , so , you first go to 15 then … blablabla…
AND then you go to “jam-loop” 5 … and don’t move from there until you/allies are in safe zone…
Need testing… yeah… BUT, YOU DON’T “EXIT” STP5 (start of jam loop) UNTIL “feet wet” !!!
There is wokaround, if you need more stps in plan, you could insert stps , before loop , … so in essence move the loop further - to the stps12-13 … do your stuff in stps before … then do “the loop”
(of course, I was trying to make it work without the need of MC , editing waypoints … but , as Lorik said… didn’t work ,… all kind of crazy things starts happening… but that could be because of that “wait stp” … stp2or3 mostly. - as waypoints with “departure” time are in essence “end of the loop” waypoints for Falcon “logic” … so if you add , eg 2 jam-loops [5-(6-7)-8] - then there is that stp2 … and that is ODD number … so everything goes crazy… needed few more tests , but , as Lorik said … "it is a long time " )
Cheers
