Solved U1 update will not run
-
I read a previous post with the same issue.
BMS 4.36 runs perfectly.
I downloaded the magnet torrent file for 4.36 U1
I opened the qBitorrent 4.4.2 program, and I clicked and dragged the magnet filefrom my Download folder TO the qBTorrent screen.
After the torrent file finished at 100%, I see in my download folder the BMS 4.36 U1 file and mine comes up as a winrar.zip.I clicked on this winrar.zip, and made sure the path was set to my Falcon 4.36 Setup folder.
Next I go into the Falcon 4.36 setup folder and I right click the file: Falcon4.36.1_incremental.exe and I choose Run as Admin.
When I go next to run setup, I do not see a setup icon in the setup folder.
Im at a loss.
Any suggestions?

@jayb
Thank You Jayb and Quasi_Steller.
Quasi…you were correct. When I initially installed 4.36, I must have copied the setup.zip to the Falcon BMS Setup folder, my error! What I should have done was just run the setup.zip from my Download file.I fixed my problem by running the FalconBMS 4.36.1_inc.exe again. But this time setting the path to C:\FalconBMS 4.36 Setup\Falcon BMS 4.36 Setup.
This saved me alot of time. THANKS AGAIN!

@huffer2 This is what the Setup folder should look like. So you don’t have this Setup.exe in the setup folder?
There are some very good step-by-step descriptions here:
https://wiki.falcon-bms.com/start-with-falcon-bms/install-update
-
@huffer2 extract the .exe somewhere. Then run the .exe, and when prompted, point at your setup folder and go from there

This is what I did, and had no problems installing the update.

Remember that once you click on the setup.exe it will ask you to point to a folder location and defaults to your 4.36 program (game install) folder. Instead point it to the 4.36 SETUP (not game install) folder…

@jayb
thx to all.
in my falcon bms 4.36setup folder I see:
data folder
falconbms4.36.1 incremental.exe
falconBMS_4.36_setup.zipthere is no setup icon.
How do you all input in this forum how the screen looks.? that would help me show you what my screen is.
thanks for the help.

@huffer2 I use the snipping tool that comes with Windows to take the picture. Then copy and paste into the post here.

never knew that.

@jayb
here is my screenshots. This looks all messed up.When i initially installed 4.36, evrything seemed to be ok. I am not sure what to do at this point.
Anyone from the tech people, what do you think?thanks for some advice.

Sorry, meant the “…incremental.exe” click that and then direct to the setup folder above vice the 4.36 game folder.
-
Click here:
-
Then here:
-
Here may default to the game folder rather than setup as shown:
-
Navigate to your 4.36 Setup Folder, instead (ignore file structure):

@parislord
I have done that as you have noted in your post.
When I run setup, I do not see the 4.36.1. I only see the initial base installer on both sides of the screen. There is no U1 on the left side, therefore I cannot click on the NEXT tab to proceed with the update.I am trying to solve this without going to the complete uninstall method, and then staring over.
Thanks for your help parislord

@huffer2 I can’t wrap my head around why you have the setup folder, inside the setup folder?

It seems that back when you installed 4.36 you ran the installer from inside the .zip file. Updates need to be installed using the setup folder. Your setup folder looks to be this one
C:\Falcon BMS 4.36 Setup\Falcon BMS 4.36 Setup
Simply because that is where the Setup.exe resides.
So I would suggest you run the Falcon_BMS_4.36.1_Incremental.exe and point it towards that folder and let us know how it went

@huffer2 This is unsolicited advice so apologies, but here is how I at least manage zip files in regards to BMS:
First and foremost: Get 7-Zip at 7-zip.org if you don’t have it already.
BMS downloads comes as zip files to save on file size. Always extract BMS zip files right away so you have transparency on what files you are working with. Windows will allow you to treat zip files as a folder which can be confusing and lead to problems down the road.
So always extract out from the zip archive right away, as soon as you download. I just do it in the Downloads folder where the zip file that I just got is using 7-zip’s “Extract here” command. Then I can move files around to my Setup folder.
Again, apologies if you know this already, I find that some of these techniques are lacking from the BMS install instructions
