[4.36.1] R77 fired by AI goes dumb off the rail
-
During a playthrough of the BARCAP training TE we noticed that two R-77 missiles fired by the Su27 pair never tracked off the rail despite the aircraft having a good lock on the target. I’m unsure if this is a bug or not, but figured it was worth a report in case.
I wouldn’t know how to reproduce it other than fighting R77 equipped fighters and seeing if it happens again. ACMI attached and POV video of Falcon 11 available upon request.

I looked at the ACMI you provided.
I see something different that what you reported, i actually see two R-77’s tracking and i also see the two F-16’s going defensive when the R-77 become active, but it seems that the R-77 were fired from too far to pose any threat to the F-16’s.
Can anyone else have a look at the ACMi and report what they see ?

@spooky , I see the same thing for the salvo of 2 R-77 during first engagement, we can see that the SU-27 are supporting the missiles and the missiles being active. They missed due to lack of kinetic energy (fired at 30nm without loft).
But for thrid and fourth R-77, I cannot explain why they don’t go active/autonomous even though they were fired at close range, respectively at 11 and 7 nm.@Fearripper96 , what was the AI level of the SU-27 ?
-
The first engagement is fully normal, the second one close range is the one the report concerns. I’m not 100% sure of the AI skill level, since it’s a default TE I don’t know how to check it. @CheckPoint . It might simply be a skill level issue with the Flanker losing lock, but I think we were close enough for the R-77 to find us if it had turned the radar on.

@Fearripper96 , I agree

Changed to a normal topic but if a repro of this can be found please report back so it can be investigated further.
Haven’t been able to repro personally.

@DUSTOFF17 yeah, me neither, I have not seen it since reporting. It was probably a coincidence of multiple things.
