PinkyandBrains Beginners guide

Hey guys,

i decided to create a beginners guide for those who want to get into modeling for Falcon4 / BMS.

It will be seperated into several parts starting with getting the needed software.

It will follow along a current project i’m working on and will cover all the important steps like blueprint setups, modeling techniques and so on.

It’s intended to get some of you guys some more into modeling and i hope it will be usefull to you!

I’ll try to keep parts in a 2 week schedule so there’s not too much of a pause in between.

Enough talking, here’s Part 1 - Obtaining the needed Software

Texturing will follow in a later part of the guide, can’t say exactly in which 'cause i don’t know yet what will be in which part… if you have something you want to see in it just let me know and i see if it fits in or not.

Great idea! I was just about to ask how to get started I have several years of experience with cinema4D, but that’s not a software for games actually. Skinning isn’t enough anymore. I hope to be able to fix some sam’s ^^

I’ve uploaded the files to the first post in the Thread. Part 2 comes as a single document and additionally i’ve uploaded a bundle which will be kept up to date with new parts for those who whant everything in one spot!

Nice and simple. Not too much details for the start, which is a good thing. But you have to play with 3D Max and use the Tutorials that are within. The program is extremly filled with stuff that you in 80% will never use… But anyway! I’m feeling more confident with it allready. Keep it goin that way. For more detailed explenations i can pm you anyway
