In the Setup menu there is a drop-down list box under the Controllers. All of our recognized input devices show up here. Currently on my system this list shows:
      Keyboard
      Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar
      TPR T.Pendular Rudder
      RS_TUSBA_R2

What is the significance of selecting these controllers in the list? Apparently we don’t need to select one wo program its buttons and axes on the Advanced pages…

But it does seem to matter which one is selected when leaving the setup and entering the cockpit. Here i have found that Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar should be selected for flight.

Also, If I have RS_TUSBA_R2 device selected and go into the advanced pages to setup the throttle axes and buttons. If I then switch to the HOTA Cougar device those settings are lost.

So - just wondering about the purpose of selecting a device and how I should be using it.

      Thanks.

Yes - I believe this sets your primary controller; i.e. - default for joystick.

@jcook I believe this is intended for selecting your primary pitch/roll axes.

But I don’t know what happens if you select a device with single axis, eg. rudder. 🙂

@airtex2019 - I know…it can SEVERELY mess things up - like drop/miss an axes, reverse inputs, etc. and/or leave you totally without joystick input. Done that before by selecting something other than my actual joystick as primary!

I think it is best to leave it on HOTAS joystick, because Avionics and Flight control axes will get screwed up. I just don’t know what purpose there is to having the list and being able to select them. That’s what I am curious about.

@jcook - it’s really a leftover/throwback to when the Cougar was king, and when using it there was only ONE controller connected that could be used for stick, throttle, and rudder. The Cougar PCB and Foxy took care of the inputs, and BMS sorted them out.

Now that you can use multiple individual controllers, the baseline software has grown to accomadate that, but the baseline is still the Cougar.
