HOJ with SA-6 and SA-10

Hi everyone,
have there be changes to the HOJ behavior of the SA-6 and SA-10?
Before 4.37 I had instances, where my HARM took out the Straight Flush but I
accidently had my jammer on and the SA-6 tracked me down on HOJ after that.
Now the jammer seems to be pretty effective against the SA-6.
I also had instances where I was tracked by an SA-10. I could see the missile closing on me in the incoming cam. But as soon as I turned on the jammer it immediately dropped it’s nose and lost tracking. This only seems to work outside of the ECM range of the Tracking radar. In the Air Defense Vehicle Threat Guide it says 36nm HOJ in the ECM column for the SA-10. I always took that for the burn through range with the remark that the missile has HOJ. Is HOJ also limited by that range?Tomahawk

I did some further testing and it seems that SA-6 and SA-10 do not HOJ at all.

For the SA-6 case, my
expectationscompletely uneducated guesses would be:Mode 1-2: jammer switches to standby, once the emitter is taken out … HOJ is blind
Mode 3: jammer forced active – HOJ should track?
The SA-10 case is perhaps more complex because of the long ranges involved… and the trajectory a HOJ shot would take w/b very different from a long-range shot guided by the tracking radar.
Seems plausible that switching on jammer would cause the site to send a bad command-guidance signal to the missile… but if you happened to be within, or pass through, the seeker fov, maybe it would track via HOJ? very hard to test, and I have no clue if real S-300 missile would function that way or not (ofc irl there are so many different variants and ranges/capabilities of the interceptor missiles in the S-300 family…)

The Russian can’t jam their own S-300PT and PS.
This tells a lot about how can be jammed an S-300…The PATRIOT is very similar or even better because it can triangulate jamming target.
In RL the S-300V also have this feature.Jamming MCG signals would be an interesting modeling thing in BMS. In RL only against Dvina worked for a very short time. Then the increased power of the system solved this problem and the US never tried jamming the uplink between the missile and the guidance station. Which is not even continuous for the SA-10A/B…

The Jammer switching off was my guess at first too.
I tried it with the SA-10. I closed in to about 10 - 15 nm using terrain masking and then I executed pop up maneuvers to provoke it. When the SA-10 fired I would dive and hide in the terrain to mask the Flap Lid. Even in jammer mode 3, the missiles lost guidance as soon as I broke the lock to the Flap Lid.Here they still have a lock on me:

The missiles still have a clear line of sight, though.
I remember an instance in 4.35 or 4.36 (not sure anymore) where I did such pop up attacks with HARMs on SA-10. I dived for the deck and masked the radar, but then I could see a missile still guiding on me and realised I had my jammer on. When I turned it off, the missile immediately lost track and passed behind me.
This does not seem to be the case in 4.37 anymore.

This sounds like a big bug. A single F-16 with a SPJ isn’t going to be effective against an SA-10, especially jamming it and then turning it off causing the missile to go stupid.

@mirv The missiles didn’t get stupid by simply turning the jammer on and off. As soon as the terrain masks the tracking radar, the SA-10 can’t guide anymore. But in earlier releases it would still home on the jammer signal and loose guidance once the jammer was turned off. Now it doesn’t seem to home on the jammer anymore.
