Fixed: My BMS VR is FUBAR and I don't know how to fix it
-
Edit: I installed BMS inside Falcon 4.0. Don’t do that!
Hi - I mentioned this in the HP forum but am opening it up to a wider audience as I think it’s a Steam VR issue.
BMS in VR was working before I connected BMS to Steam as a VR game. I did this after reading about performance tweaks and watching a few YT videos. (Note BMS is installed on a different drive to SteamVR).
I linked the Falcon BMS 437.exe on my desktop to my steam library and checked the box making it available in Steam VR.
The problem I encounter now is when I open up the BMS launcher on my desktop (and enable VR), the Steam library automatically opens up in VR. If I open “Falcon BMS 437” from within the Steam library, the game launches in the background behind the Steam VR menu. It’s at this point that another “Falcon BMS 437” desktop launchers starts and I have two instances of BMS running. If I load into a flight, the Steam menu remains in front and the frame rates are a slid show.
I’ve removed Falcon BMS 437 from the Steam VR library, but when I start the BMS launcher, Steam VR immediately starts again.
I’ve deleted and reinstalled SteamVR (beta) and the same thing happens. The only thing I haven’t tried is installing Steam VR on the same drive as BMS but I see no way to do that and there is no method in the properties that will move it to another drive.
I’m completely flummoxed at this point and don’t even know how to get back to the start when VR was working without BMS being in the Steam library.
I would love to get some step by step advice on how to resolve this. Thank you!
