Unsolved No runway lights using stand alone server.
-
Runway lights will not come on during night operations when using a stand alone server. I am using g_bNoRender . Airfield is pitch black for ramp start, takeoff and landing. Is there a work around so I can use NoRender?
-
I’ve seen this reported … I don’t recall if there’s a known workaround.
-
Been chasing this for a long while. Do you have a repro case? A save file that always happens?

in the server of our wing it happened when we changed to 4.37 u1 I gave myself the task of trying to replicate the problem of the lights but I couldn’t create it in SP, they always turned on, but not on the wing server with the same campaign. In the end, we kept flying with the lights off, which forced us to increase the preparation and procedures (we got something good out of it). Now to do the update of the u2 I decided to do a new installation of the server and with the same campaign now if they turn on. we keep the same network configurations and same campaign. Only the server installation is new.

to be fair, it seems that the server listens to me.
Now the lights don’t come on. Yesterday the server crashed and I modified the campaign, removed some squadrons and changed the time.
so the games of light begin -
family, I have been working here for hours on the issue of lights and I have carried out all kinds of tests, put the original campaign, ours, with and without graphic quality on the server, the plane from the server on the ramp or in a taxiway started, flight training or combat, and many other variants that I don’t remember much testing. The only result I got was removing the NORENDER and allowing the server to be mounted in the cabin but rendering a 3d image, that was the only way it left me for the clients to turn on the runway lights. It has nothing to do with the mission or the campaign, it has to do with the fact that in NORENDER it interferes with something that cannot be found.
At the end I left the wing server rendering 3d image and minimized it by the task manager, this is what it is consuming
Pretty much the same as with NORENDER so I’ll leave it that way until we figure out what’s going on.
greetings.

@VIPER-0 Thank you for the info.

@VIPER-0 hi buddy, I believe this is simply coincidence.
This bug has happened since 4.35 (thus before no render option), in MP only as you described.
I believe it has something to do with mission commander, because it only happened on edited campaigns.
Back then I had created a special exe with lots of information to catch this, but then the bug simply stopped happening.
If you can get it consistently in MP, maybe it is time to create this exe again and try to catch the bugger.

You know that you are quite right, after the wing pilots in a night flight informed me that they did not turn on the runway lights and the server is rendering a 3d image, so it is as you say, brother. It is pure coincidence and my criteria only added more noise to the matter. Maybe when I get home today I’m going to see the MC thing because it’s out there. Within the light failure variables there is always the MC so something happens. investigate further. so the wing server will be off today

@VIPER-0 I read that it only happens on edited campaigns, yet when I tested it on a new campaign using my stand alone server without the no render option, there were no runway lights other than the vasi and running rabbit?

our wing since we discovered the method of server in the cabin at night and rendering 3d, the runway lights always turn on even during the day.

Hi there maybe i can help with my Server, if needed of course
Theater will be i quess KTO for testing ?
And how many players should at least fly 2 or more ? -

Hi guys, sorry for necroposting this a bit, but I’m also searching for a workaround for runway lights not working at night in campaign when using a dedicated server.
I tried to follow the suggestion @VIPER-0 gave of placing the server with 3D rendering enabled in cabin at night, but no luck and all the airport remains extremely dark.
@VIPER-0 would you mind to detail what you do on the server step by step?
I see you posted some here, but it’s not clear to me if when you say “we create the package 20 minutes before takeoff” you mean the server flight or your own and also if you create it everytime or only once.
And when you say " the time of the campaign has to be at night" you mean that the campaign clock itself must be advanced until it’s night time or is it enough to set the departure time for the server flight at night (say, at 22:30 LT)?
Moreover, do you use this trick only on KTO or also on other theaters?
Asking because I tried on Balkans, I don’t think this is the issue because lighting should be part of the BMS core (so the behaviour should be consistent in all theaters), but it might be useful to further understand under what circumstances the bug happens.
Thanks in advance, hope for your reply soon! -

Thanks in advance, hope for your reply soon! It’s a pleasure to be able to help you buddy. I understand that sometimes I write in a hurry and along with the language barrier, communication gaps can be created. But anyone who can read my lines and not understand something can ask me as many times as they want, I am always willing to help, as they were with me.
Next I am going to make a step-by-step checklist of what you must do on the server to turn on the track lights. It has never failed me. Our wing server runs 24/7 and this method is unbreakable.
On the dedicated server:
-Dedicated server rendering 3D image (-NORENDER=0)
-Have a C-17 squadron in Japan, human control (where the dedicated server will be set up)
-Campaign time on the dedicated server (local night time), our server has the campaign start time 2100 z
-
Opening the dedicated server, the C-17 server package is created in Japan and mounted in the cabin 20 minutes before takeoff in cold and dark conditions or (RAMP).
-
you enter the cabin in (RAMP) and wait 30 seconds, the lights should turn on automatically, if they do not turn on, connect the battery, turn on COM1, move the radio channel selector to BOTH and set the PRESET to 2, The tower menu is opened with the key (t) and authorization for departure is requested. After the tower’s response, the lights must necessarily turn on.
If not, something else is happening.
On the client side, they only have to enter and fly, on some occasions the lights do not turn on automatically, on the client side, one must request authorization for departure, with radio PRESET 2 and talking to the tower.
This is how I always do it and it always works.
I make the campaign modifications with the magnificent Mission Commander (MC) tool from master @FalcasTell me how it went.

@VIPER-0 thanks very much mate, will try and let you know how it goes!
