F-16 FLCS + TQS
-
Hi Leo. Well it works ok. Sometimes i need to unplug the adapter and the keyboard to get the buttons to work. I got the rangekob working but the antenna knob is dead. I think the pot is bad. Planning to disasemble the throttle to see if i can fix it.I also have to recenter the joystick in bms settings every time i start the program .Other than that i am verry happy with my setup. To use these old joysticks is not as straight forwad as plugging in a more modern joystick, but if you like me like maximum bang for the buck then its absolutley worth it. I also has the suncom talon and sfs throttle. They also work 100% with the same adapter. I can combine the flcs joystick with the sfs throttle! A por mans hotas warthog. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions .

Nice to hear that the adapter works, since I also have a set of TQS + FLSC gathering dust for years.

Just remember that your motherboard has to have a ps/2 input for the keyboard to be able to program the FLCS-TQS. It wont work with a ps/2 usb adapter. The program sends the keyboard commands through the ps/2 port . When it is programmed you can use a usb adapter.
Here is a good site for old gameport joystick projects. http://www.warrenernst.com/thrustmaster
Here is a link where you can download fox two for the old FLCS-TQS. A lot easier to program in windows instead of DOS. -
Sorry. Here is the link for foxtwo.

Hello,
I own tons of old TM Sticks. F-16 FLCS TQS WCS and I have Suncom HOTAS too. I’ve modded the Suncom gear with the FLCS and TQS boards. The programability is much better! And yes you could use those old hardware as long as a computer has a ps2 port. If not you could buy a PCI card with ps2-ports. Works great. I built a whole cockpit based on the old equipment. Still have Quickshot Masterpilots and they are running.
You have to program them with an old rig, that’s all. The TM gear is programmable on a new system without any problems, BUT you have two boot in real DOS or windows till ME. Windows 9X is more problem cause of PCI-Express and the missing drivers for chipset or graphics. So DOS is the best way. For the analog axis, I switched to USB with the BU0836A Board. So the input runs over USB but the keyboard emu is still the old hardware.
I love the good old plane text mode to program the gear and there never was more possible as with those old TM sticks. Have built changeable Grips for F-15, F-16, F4, Mig, Apache and three type of throttle SFS, TQS, helo collective. As you can see the old gear isn’t dead. You just have to solder a bit.
USB to gameport converters aren’t running. Not only for programing. After a while the HOTAS can wack out. Tried it different times with many different mainboards. So I decided to go for USB. It’s much more precise too. For the keyboard plugs, NEVER use any converter or the HOTAS could be toast. You could use DIN to PS2 adapters but nothing electronical and never USB-converter. I once tried a electronic AVM switch to change my hotas sytems easily between the old rig for all the download action and the new, my sims are running. Just fried the AVM including one HOTAS. Only way is a mechanical data switch. They hijacked the ps2 port for downloading in a unusual way, so most electronic switches or adapters don’t love old TM gear
You must leave pin 1 and 4 of the gameport to get 5V+ and ground from it, if you decide to change to USB. The pcb are power hungry and the 5V of the PS2 keyboard connector isn’t enough to get them running.
