Noob!!!! T-8 won't remove chocks?
-
Hi all, got really excited to try flight sims again after years of first person shooters when I found out that the BMS community had modded the original Falcon 4. Watching a few You Tube videos cemented the deal.
I know that learning the game is immensely challenging (500+ pages of manuals, really?), but I went ahead and got a Thrusmaster Warthog stick and throttle, a Track IR (waaaaay cool and a major reason to join), did the install fairly easily thanks to all the online instructions, loaded Morphine’s TARGET script and key file, configured everything and went to begin at square 1, the Ramp Start. Went through the checklist to fire things up and got to the very last step before taxiing.
NOW T-8 WON’T REMOVE MY CHOCKS!!!
When I hit T the Tower menu comes up, and when I hit 8 the menu goes away, but the “Chocks in Place” remains lit and I can’t taxi (yes, I released the parking brake). I’m sure my stupid noob-ness is showing but I have been trying for two nights to get it to work. (I’m using the keyboard 8, not the numeric keypad).
What in the heck am I forgetting? Note - I don’t have a DTC set up - is that part of the issue? Is there some other comm setting I need to check besides the standard Dash 1 Manual Section 2.1 Ramp Start instructions? Thanks, hope to see some of you up in the sky eventually
Yes, you have to set your towers frequency via UFC/DED. Don’t feel bad.
Setting up the DTC is helpful, btw
Oh, and btw. If after all this you still can’t move, click the reverse tab at your brake axis(assuming you set it up via axias -
Holy cow, didn’t mean to start a furball! I took Metalhead’s advice, re-watched the Krause video, set up a preflight DTC (the step I skipped for some reason) with the tower freq on 15 and all is well. Taxied out, took off, forgot to retract my gear… oh wait, that’s another noob story, don’t want to start another conflict :-).
Seriously everybody, thanks so much for the help. I’m getting there! Except for refueling - holy cow is connecting to the tanker a bitch! I finally get there, connect momentarily and then lose it. Or it starts to turn. Time for bed; tomorrow’s another day…
