Any finished trainer mod? Turboprop or jet.
-
Hi to all. Are there a finished mod of a turboprop or jet trainer, or the armed version of a trainer (PC-9, T-6A, T-45C, Talon, L-39, Hawk…) for Falcon BMS? I’m new in this forum (and this sim) and can’t find any. Thanks in advance.

@Vencejo02 Hello,
no, it does not exist.
If you want to make one by yourself, it’s more than welcomed !

I wish I knew how to do it. Thanks for the answer.

Why?? You can’t take a trainer into combat, which is the whole point of a combat flight simulation.
Perhaps you’d have better luck in MSFS or XP11/XP12 – they have trainer aircraft, all the way down to Cessnas and Pipers. -
@Vencejo02 there is a T-6 model in the EMF theatre, that has the gun pods permanently on. It’s flight model is far from realistic, like all the other planes here other than the F-16 and the F-15, but I guess you could give it a try.

For my part I would love to see a trainer aircraft mod in BMS.
I appreciate its not for operational flying (but the clue for what it is used for is in the title). I think a turbo-prop like the Super Tucano, PC-21 or T6c Texan II would be an amazing addition to BMS, even something like a Grob 120tp would be useful. I know I / 72 Sqn would make immediate use of such an option if it had the right avionics options etc.
Such aircraft would add a lot of flavour and options for Sqns/Wings that want to augment training or dont immediately want to use a 4th Gen aircraft. This would be especially helpful for pilots that are new to flight sims, combat flight sims or multiplayer flying in general.
I think such a mod would need to have modern avionics/HUD etc to be truly worthwhile as a ‘modern’ trainer. I for one would not want to spend my training time squinting down at a barely readable steam gauge in a world of MFDS, HUDs and glass cockpits.
Not being a programmer/developer I know little about how these things are done, but it seems to me the aircraft mod options in BMS are fairly low at the moment vice DCS. I guess that’s the result of BMS only recently opening up the option of having distinct modules and, perhaps, a smaller community than that of DCS from which to draw programmers/developers that would be keen to take on such a project.
As has been mentioned above, there seems to be a plethora of options in MSFS, but anything in MSFS is likely to be cost prohibitive for many given the limited use of the option beyond training. DCS has great options; Super Tucano and Hawk are free mods which while not perfect, are surprisingly good for a community MoD and entirely suitable for lead in training for something like an F16.
The things I would give for such trainer aircraft in BMS. I guess, with no financial incentive for coding such mods, we are at the mercy of those kind souls with the skills and time available to do such a mod in BMS (like the ones in DCS).
One can hope/dream.

Hello,
I would like to reply to this post, because this topic has been commented a good amount of time, and there are some details to recall.
Many devs are indeed aware of the interest of a trainer aircraft within BMS. This is an idea that have been already discussed and debated. Some options were imagined, but I would say that most of them were about an advanced jet trainer (KAI T-50 Golden Eagle, Northrop T-38 Talon) for example, or an intermediate training/ground support aircraft (Embraer 314/A-29, KAI KT-1 Woongbi).
Please then understand that having ideas is nice, but what we need is mainly people who achieve the work, which means 3D and coding skills mostly, but also the capability to create an accurate flight model (not the easiest chapter of the job).
As you mentioned, people are more and more demanding in term of systems and avionics. If we create such trainer, there are functions to necessarily develop that have been never done for BMS that would be very time consuming (but not impossible) to create (for example a moving map system, and backseat upfront camera screen with HUD playback).
Please also consider that since the arrival of PBR, and the lowering logic of 3D constraints, creating 3D models is much longer than before. Which means that while there are about 5 active 3D artists for whole official BMS deliverables, most of them already have their workload planned for the next two years, and are of course all free to choose the project they want.
Last but not least, if a trainer would be interesting, a backseat would be necessary to create. This would demand a huge work, for both 3D and coding. If the 3D might be done within 1 year with a good working pace (with the new specs and PBR workflow), there is no code support for it, and this would require a huge amount of work to achieve it at a stable level, with dozen of hours of beta test (to avoid avoid any MP issues for example). Also, please note that if a backseat was coded, it would probably be more convenient to make it first for F-16, which use stock avionics, and not a custom new one. Therefore, developing a custom new avionics suite with a brand-new backseat support would be a huge challenge.
With that said, I think that backseat will come sooner of later, but step by step. First on F-16, then, maybe on other aircraft.
