Trackir 5 FOV and Z axis zero setting

Hi there
Got some questions while setting up my Trackir 5 (just got it! yooohooo :p)
Is there a way to put the zero point in the z axis further back? What I want to accomplish with it is making the zero point of trackir in cockpit to be back, or zoomed out. I think the normal position is to close to the hud, and I would like to see at least some of the mfds while on zero z.
The other thing I couldn’t get around was this. If I mark the option to make the z axis control the fov, I can only zoom when looking forward. If I move the view to any place other than forward, moving my head closer to the trackir sensor doesn’t give any zoom. What I have to do is zoom in while looking to the hud then looking to the side to search for things. As you can imagine, it is quite difficult to find the correct head position to see anything while zoomed in.

Maybe a tad late suggestion, but what i do to reposition the default view, is re-centering trackir (default f12).
For example, to move the view more back, i simply lean forward a few inches and hit f12. Now, when get back to my normal position the trackir will move back a little. Same goes for tilting. I want it to look a little down by default to view my mfd’s. Simply, look up a little, hit re-center and look forward. Now you will look down just a bit.Stevie

I have tried this, but the thing is, when you move the center like as you suggested the center becomes very sensitive. What I have been doing is as soon as I enter the cockpit, I zoom out a little with the mouse wheel.

Dont know if this helps but you did try changing your 3D FOV settings in the config folder to your liking,might not be what your looking for though.

Having a similar issue with the initial Z setting too close to the HUD. I have been doing as suggested earlier to lean forward and recenter, which works OK.
In reference to the 3d FOV settings in the config folder, where can I find it? Are you referring to the 3d FOV settings in the BMS Config- that is the FOV(60) (default) to FOV(80)?
Just returning to BMS after I left off with OF a few years ago. Finally got the TrackIR 5 recently, and I’m still learning it’s quirks.

Just tried out the FOV 70 setting in the Config, which I like a lot better. The best improvement was downloading Yassy’s BMS profile and firing up the track clip pro for the first time. Huge improvement in stability over the baseball-cap mounted reflectors. Much more natural feel to the head tracking.

also for adjusting the sensitivity around center you can tweak the curves for any and all axis in the trackir screen… make the curve like a v curve with the point in the center very low and keep it flat to the next outer points before shooting really upwards… this in effect is like exponential settings on a rc airplane or helicopter if that makes any sense

Another weird thing is that when I try to reach the air conditioning pannel (which is partially hidden by the stick armrest), instead of turning my head to the right and leaning towards the screen, I have to make some weird moves (basically I manage to reach the knob from below the armrest and not from its front).I tried to set the FOV to larger values (80°) but that didn’t change anything. I also tried other trackIR profiles but this doesnt help… Is there another setting that I am missing?
