BMS -Technical-Manual section 10.7.4 missing some crucial infos
-
Hi everyone,
I apologise in advance if what I am writing is known to everyone but I am a former Falcon BMS player (4.32 era) that is only now returning to it and I just spent my afternoon trying to setup my input devices.
If I am not mistaken, BMS 4.37U6 now ships by default with what used to be the alternate launcher. The alternate launcher changes quite a bit how you would set up your devices and key binds however it is not even mentioned in §10.7.4 of the BMS-Technical-Manual. It means that even if you follow the suggested setup flow, the alternate launcher will erase your custom settings. This can be frustrating to say the least. Could you consider updating this section of the manual ?
Thank you in advance.

@Bacab tge launcher (aka) alt launcher is described in Falcon BMS User manual. The technical manual describes the things behind what the launcher is doing as BMS still works of a .key file regardless if the key file is generated from the launcher or written to from ingame setup or nnually edited. So the tech manual is not the place for that IMHO.

@oakdesign Thank you for your answer. The thing is, if you are looking for an issue with the key file/sorting of DX inputs (as I thought I was dealing with), you go into the technical manual. I never thought the alternative launcher would undo any change done in the in-game interface. I think it would deserve at least a warning.

@Bacab using the Launcher you shouldn’t be forced to mess with any of those, like DeviceSorting.txt and such as Laincher will handle that even in environment with changing Devices, therefore Launcher generates all needed files on every start.
You can still force the Launcher not to override by checking the no setup override checkbox. But agree that I might be made more prominent that you should either use Launcher and if you do not use any other method or mix
