Question on LGB training mission
-
I’m sure I’m being terribly dense, but what does this mean?
Make sure you have the TGP setup on another Direct Access Button on the left MFD and quickly check that it is operational
I have a vague feeling what it means, but not much more than that.
-
Direct access buttons are the 6 locations at the bottom of the MFDs (3 each) that can be selected quickly with DMS left/right presses. Check that it is operational could mean anything from not broken to on and timed out to in AG mode. The next use of TGP in the lesson would clarify how ready they mean.
-
Supanova, to be specific, Direct Access buttons are OSBs 12, 13 & 14 on both the left and right MFDs. So make the TGP one of the choices on the left MFD at one of those button positions.
-
Set your preffered DAB’s for each mode (AA/AG/NAV) with the WDP (weapon delivery program).
check OP status: you have to turn the TGP on for each mode seperately, but once that is done you will remember having done that, so no need for a check unless you have Alzheimer :).
How are your feelings now ?:rtfm:

In my defence that reference does jump at you out of the blue in the training manual. If you were to see a chicken walking down the street wearing a porkpie hat it might startle you somewhat.
The three centre OSBs (#12, #13, #14) are Direct Access (DA) buttons and provide direct access to the DTC saved MFDs displays according to master mode. Up to three pages for each MFD may be assigned to the DA buttons for each master mode. The displayed page format has its DA mnemonic highlighted. These are easily toggled by pressing the corresponding direct access OSB button or they can be cycled even faster with the HOTAS buttons: DMS right for the right MFD and DMS left for the left MFD. Please note you cannot have the same page displayed on both MFDs at the same time, so if you try to display the FCR on the right MFD while it is already being displayed on the left MFD the FCR will simply be taken from the left MFD leaving an empty DA slot where it was originally assigned.
Although it is advised to set the three most required MFD pages for each master mode in the DTC it is also possible to set them in the cockpit by modifying the direct access button setting, while the desired master mode is engaged. To do so, first set the desired master mode, then display the page you want to change (its mnemonic is highlighted). Press the DA button that is highlighted and the MFD displays the MENU page. From there simply select the new page you want to have accessible and the new page mnemonic appears on the direct access row, replacing the previous one. You can now easily toggle it with the DMS HOTAS button.

You don’t need any defense, only few now everything myself excluded. RTFM remains popular these days with 4.33.
No offense. BMS is far from easy walk in the park.

The station selected for dropping can be changed with the MSL STEP button
I’ve looked through the dash 1 - for once - but I can’t understand how this works. When I press the NWS / MSL STP button it changes delivery mode. I tried holding it down for longer, but to no avail.
Also, does anyone else have a flashing screen issue with weapon camera, shift+7, view? It seems to clear up a few seconds after release, but until then it’s unuseable. It also locked up BMS when impacting water.

my mistake, you can’t switch them. It’s corrected for the next revision

That’s a shame. It would have been quite useful.

On this training mission, is it possible to destroy the red crane with one gbu12 ?
I have tried this mission 2 times, and the result is: the crane is only damaged not destroyed.
What do I do wrong? -
@Red:

Worth noting to a new player: This does work for AGMs. Important when you get to the section on boresighting.

Lol….the DCS A-10C sounds easier to learn.
