winwing throttle: problem with Z axis handle R
-
I am writing in the hope that someone can help me with the problem I am having with the Z axis of the right handle of the Orion 2 throttle. Basically, Windows does not recognize the axis or in any case, moving the lever does not happen anything. Can someone help me? Thanks.

@pes_ter It may be worth a try going into Winwing software Simapp Pro and performing an axis recalibration. I have experienced a winwing device mysteriously lose its calibration for some reason before. It was slightly different, as it also involved a bad connection, but after restoring the connection the axis didn’t register any movement until after recalibrating.

@foxster I am grateful for your reply already for the fact that I was able to contact you again. Thank you very much. Unfortunately I have already done all the tests with the SimAppPro software and I have tried to recalibrate that damned axis several times. If you want or have time I will send you some screenshots or some short videos of what I have already tried. But I absolutely do not want to bother you. I was already happy to read you once again. Bye.

@pes_ter Is this by chance the F15EX right throttle handle? If so, there’s a small design flaw and WinWing has a walkthrough to fix it. I can dig up the reference pics tomorrow for you.

@foxster it’s exactly the Z-axis of the F15EX right throttle handle that doesn’t work! I’ll send you a drawing of the non-working part on discord. Thanks in advance for your help. bye

@pes_ter Yep, that’s the problem then. The solution is to open the handle and slightly bend the pins inward on the analog 10-pin connector.
Since I can’t directly post images anymore, here’s a link to the steps to fix on my discord forum.

I’m not sure how well this works from discord as you may have to join the server first. Do that from here: https://discord.gg/vc37eJ4Bsp

@foxster I found the solution to my problem and I am reporting it for anyone who has the same problem as me. I apologize as of now because I am using a translator. I thank Foxster for helping me out, but in my case the solution was something else, ok go! Basically, I disassembled the Z-axis control and noticed that a small round neodymium magnet had detached itself from its normal seat which is the special housing attached to the inside base of the knob. With some difficulty I detached this little magnetic pill from the metal part to which it had attached and repositioned it inside the above location (I had to use double-sided tape but I think I will do the operation again using hot glue). After resealing the part with the two small screws all I did was recalibrate using SimAppPro… and … voila… the Z axis came back to life perfectly!
