Help needed: in-game > controller settings > options conflict
-
Hello everyone,
New member here, already introduced.
Would very much appreciate your advice if possible, before making even more mistakes.
(Also read the axis sections in BMS user manual and Device Setup guide.)Installed BMS a few days ago and managed to set the keys, buttons and the various axis of both Joystick HOTAS Warthog and TWCS throttle to my liking - either in the Launcher and also in-game setup.
Field Of View - TWCS (pinky wheel)
rudder - TWCS ‘rotate Z’ (front paddles)
throttle - TWCS ‘axis Z’ (slider)However when:
in-game > setup > controllers > controller (option field below pilot name)
… and commit the “capital sin” of temporarily changing from Joystick to: Keyboard or TWCS … every axis of the TWCS (and even some HAT’s of Joystick) becomes instantly un-assigned or switched between each other. It doesn’t even take to enter “advanced” settings and change stuff there to automatically mess / switch the assigned axis between them.
Even if I re-select Joystick again, when one goes in to the “advanced” settings (to confirm if the axis are as planed), they are now automatically changed.
However, re-selecting Joystick again and re-starting the game again seems to correct everything to my liking.
What I’m i doing wrong?
Thank you. -
Dont use in-game setup for your controls, stick to the launcher. I expect that to be all you have to do.

Hello,
Golden advice, thank you.
Now that you mention that, I believe I’ve read somewhere that it is supposed to set pratically everything at the launcher yes.
(But yesterday with various doubts I started to tweak with the in-game setup also… now i know I’m not supposed.)All the tweaking with settings and conflicts I mentioned above, only started when :
-
I first assigned the TWCS ‘pinky wheel’ (usually used as ‘range knob’) to Field Of View…
-
doing that, automatically caused the key “K” and the Joystick button to “wheel brakes - hold” both stop working in game.
(Corrected this, I suppose when I disabled Toe Brake and Toe Brake right at the Launcher…)
Thank you.

@Fluke Correct – this whole Setup screen needs to go away (or be made inert / readonly).
That will happen, but in the meantime, just don’t use it. Apologies for the wasted time and frustration, @Bogey
Hello,
No problem, generally gained some ease around these kinds of configs from other sims.
Overall BMS configs were easy and game installation process was also very straightforward.Glad it appears to be working correctly now, as long as one doesn’t go mess around with those in-game controller settings.
Regarding : simulation ; graphics ; sound - are these also to be left alone at the in-game settings ?
Thank you.

@Bogey Graphics and Sound are ok … well, also buggy and need of replacement, but ok
But be careful with Simulation screen. The “refueling” settings are recently developed and supported - but don’t change the flight model.

Ok thanks for the insight.

@Bogey happy flying!
