Number of Fleet Aircraft in Campains
-
Hello,
When playing as a Single Player in Campain, the game usually gives us a fleet of 24 planes and as the bots crash these planes, this number decreases and eventually appears as 0. For this reason, new missions do not come and the Campain is literally left unfinished. How can I fix this? Is there any way to prevent this number of planes from decreasing or to add more planes as it decreases?

There are a few ways of preventing AI from decimating your squadron. ALL entail you taking control of the squadron.
-
Prune the Sorties - The campaign engine is really bad at determining if a target is destroyed or what threats will be encountered during any given sortie. So feel free to delete sorties or entire packages if it appears the target is destroyed or it’s a suicide mission.
-
Learn the Priorities of the Campaign - Under the “P” Icon you can prioritize certain missions, targets & even areas of the theater. Feel free to adjust any one of those to concentrate both your squadron & forces in a specific area.
-
Learn what weapons do - Many of the weapons AI does a poor job in employing. Among these are Laser guided weapons. Also, many a DEAD/SEAD sortie default to AGM-88 HARMS. Feel free to change the load out to simple GPS guided or Dumb bombs, and if you see a SEAD mission frag’d to a SAM site that does not have an active radar then delete that sortie, or change the load out to… GPS/Dump/CBU style munitions.
-
Find & D/L Mission Commander - It is a shame that Mission Commander support is beginning to tail off, BUT it still does work! So find it HERE, D/L it and learn how it can help you in your campaign.
This is “How to prosecute a Campaign” in a nutshell. As you play more you will find that these 4 steps will not solve EVERYTHING you encounter in a campaign, but it will put you on track to perform well. Also, Step 5 would be: Read the documentation that’s provided, and…Step 6: If that documentation doesn’t make sense come back to the Forums or go to the BMS’ Discord to ask questions.
Happy Sim’ing

Oh yeah… Step 7: Feel free to join up with a virtual squadron in or near your time zone and learn from others.

I am trying to implement many of the points you mentioned but eventually the mission remains unfinished. For this reason I downloaded Mission Commander and tried to find a way to increase the number of planes but I could not solve the problem. Do you have any information about the steps I can take to use Mission Commander to solve the problem?

@h4sanutku Adding more jets is not solving the problem. Its ignoring the problem and tilting the campaign in your favour to compensate for the problem. The problem is that you are losing too many jets due to poor planning. Sounds like you are just letting the campaign do everything. The campaign is just a base for you to be the strategist not a perfectly thought out war. Once you get good at strategy you can win any campaign in a day or two and will not run out of jets. Another thing you can do is switch squadrons to one that has jets. If all squads are out of jets consider that you lost the war and start a new one.

Here’s how I manage the aircraft.
I determine what my short term goal is. Say it’s SEAD/DEAD. I’ll put my squadron and another in manual mode. I will then set up my defense CAP flights then set up SEAD/ DEAD flights and so on. I will then browse through the ATO list and check if there are any crazy sucide flights. If there is I’ll cancel them.
Long story short your just gonna have to FRAG your own flights. Also if my squadron gets low I’ll leave them in manual mode and switch to another and wait till they get resupplied with a couple more aircraft.

I understand how I should proceed logically. I am excited to gain experience in the planning process of the missions in this way. Thanks!
Note: I am writing this to be more explanatory for friends who have the same problem. When you start the time by selecting a fleet from Campain, right click on the planes of the fleet you selected on your ATO page and make the necessary arrangements in the Delete and Add Packpage field.

@h4sanutku A quick tutorial of re-supplying in Mission Commander:
- Click on File>Open Mission. Select your latest Save Day (or any save day you wish really).
- One your Save Day is open, Click the Units Tab & make sure Squadrons icon is highlighted.
- Feel free to filter by Country
- Double-click on the Squadron you wish to resupply
- Under “Roster” (center bottom of the window that opens up) double-click the cells that are yellow to add jets.
- Click Apply & then Save the Save Day.
- Reenter Falcon & you will have more aircraft.
