Legacy and Super Hornet
-
Hello all,
My name is Jamal, and I’m a huge Falcon fan since Falcon AT and 3.0. When the source code for Falcon 4 had been leaked so many years ago, I was fortunate to participate in updating the 2D cockpit for the eFalcon project and also contributed higher detailed Hornet and Harrier models. Over the years, I continued to develop the Hornet model(s) with the intent of releasing more accurately submissions for Flightsim X and later P3D. Unfortunately, the plans never panned out although a version was released as the FSX Blue Angels Hornet released via FSDreamteam as a freeware product. I also developed a Super Hornet model for another effort which unfortunately did not come to fruition.
So, I figured maybe this may be a good opportunity for the models to be used in something for people to enjoy! If there is any interest and it doesn’t step on anyone’s toes if there are other efforts ongoing, I would like to donate these models to the BMS project.
The screenshots provided below are of the latest states of the various models. The in-game pictures of the Legacy hornet cockpits are very old and are in FSX, but the model geometry for these versions is generally the same. The Rhino models, interior and exterior, are far more developed detail wise, but my intent was to bring the Legacy’s up to par.
Other pictures are on my Flickr page for consideration: Flickr Album

Nice work on the Supers!
-
Good work!
-
wow… looks more than great and thank you for your offer.
I believe the team has already contacted you and this is on it’s way… -
@spins_vmfa321 Superb! Good work these are some fine 3d models! May i ask the tricount on those puppies? (external models)
-
God damn.
Beautiful work.

Add this Bad Boy. You can have at it.
-
That’s one a hell of a bug
I hope both 3D models and pits will find their way into 4.38.x
Maybe that will be enough of a motivation for working on full fidelity hornet in BMS. -
@spins_vmfa321 : great job! I absolutesly love the Super Hornet and I would so much want to have it included in BMS in great detail!
-
Super bug cannot really exist in BMS for now as we don’t model WSO…
For C legacy models, could be discussed of course.If discussions happen, they will be outside of the public forum
-
@MaxWaldorf
Do you mean avionics/systems or model and cockpit as well?
Also no WSO needed for single seat models. Family ones (D and F) are obviously different matter. I think single seat pre-AESA Super Hornet should be doable. -
If anything starts, it will be with the planes where there is a lot of public info available…
F/A-18C has quite some… -
@MaxWaldorf That being said… A bit sad to (again) spend time and energy one more time of the thousand times seen in simulation F/A-18C…
-
AWESOME model, Jamal!!!
Thanks
-
Great job!
-
Very accurate models!

@Radium
Considering how special BMS is, in perfect world we’d have all of the aircraft flyable with their own systems/avionics at full fidelity, including the most common ones
For me, I’m happy with any BMS development, even if it doesn’t align with my personal tastes
‘tho’ I share your love for those unique birds. -
@Xeno As you know, I really dislike “full fidelity” concept, which is a marking bull***it of ED and DCS… At most, we can call our games “maximum fidelity games”, but NONE can be “full fidelity”.
For the rest, this is my crusade but… I would like to see less 'infinité redo" and more “fresh air”.

@Manos1981 Hello!
The higher poly single seat C model with all equipment unique to the jet comes out to 361,259 tris / 167,384 polys.
