Windows 10

Nice find . I left it only to share among PCs on the same network, which is useful to save bandwidth.
Again they buried pearls like this all over the place…

This too, though some people may choose to leave it on and that’s okay:

Makes sense for them, less bandwidth to have for their servers. After all, Linux distributions do the same with updates.

Nice find
Also, I work in IT and have had several of the links I have shared forwarded to me at work, so I can’t really take all the credit.

Got Win10 installed on my laptop…liking it so far. However, will wait to put on my desktop where my BMS is installed.

No worries thanks for sharing anyway

Hello there im new in the BMS world. Are we sure that BMS will run smoothly on win 10 because thats the first reason im afraid to upgrade.
-
Don´t care about the game itself… care more about the Hardware and other stuff you use in combination

Hi all, I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10 yesterday. The installation thankfully went without any problem and BMS runs fine like before. However, right after the windows installation I had to update the NVIDIA driver for my card (GTX 980), otherwise the graphics were poorer than before. I ran the Valley benchmark before and after installing windows 10 and I got almost identical frame rate scores.

@tachyon - Thanks for the info.

Reset default browser choice:

I’m keeping mine on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Reviews on Windows 10 don’t inspire confidence. Also don’t like the interface. If I had Windows 8 I might change but not now.

I have been flying my BMS 4.32 update 7 on Windows 10 without a problem since its installation.
The only problem I ran into on day 1 was the NVidia driver 353.30 and 353.62. With those drivers I couldn’t get in to the 3D world. So I uninstalled the NVidia drivers deleted the NVidia folder and rebooted. Windows installed its own driver and I haven’t looked back since.
Oh yes, and I installed “directX 2010 runtime libraries”.
So far I do not regret upgrading to Windows 10.
Also, Windows 10 as an upgrade is quite heavy to drive for any system. Plus its size is at least 5 times more than with a clean install.
If you are taking advantage of the free upgrade you must first install the upgrade on top of a licensed Windows 7 SP1, 8 or 8.1. This will convert your previous license to a Windows 10 License key.
You don’t have to wait for Windows Update,
You can perform the upgrade with the downloadable ISO from microsoft.
https://www.microsoft.com/fr-ca/software-download/windows10After you have finished upgrading to Windows 10 you must extract the new license key. There are a few methods you can find on the net to do this. One is called “backupwindowskey.vbs”: http://www.jsw.gen.nz/BackupWindowsKey.vbs
Just save this file with the name “backupwindowskey.vbs” without the quotes and run it. It will display you key and give you the option to save it to a text file.
and another one is called “JellyBean”.
Once you have retreive the new license key you can then do a clean install of Windows 10. But don’t forget, this as long as it is on the same computer. I think its tied to the MAC adress or something like that.

Interesting, I did the upgrade on my laptop using the ISO version and didn’t need to go through the process regarding backing up my license? The upgrade has just recognised my win7 license and now 10 is activated.

Run disk cleanup, go into advanced mode, and it can clean up the old Windows folder plus the installation folder. I got back 27GB.

I figured I would post this Cougar Relevant info here…
WARNING!!: in Windows 10 I am unable to FLASH the Firmware in the Cougar. I have tried countless ways to do it and none of them work… I believe this is ONLY in Windows 10… I am able to flash the same stick in Win 7 but they do not carry over…
If anybody has any ideas I am all ears

I also didn’t have to backup the product key of the win X upgrade. I did the installation of win X before the upgrade. Then I installed win 7 on a second partition, and did the upgrade. when the update was done, WinX on both partitions was activated without my hands.

I’ve done a clean install of Win10 and now my warthog dowsn’t work in the 3d world - anyone else having this issue?
