Ok so i have F4:AF which has Korea and Balkans, i have yet to play F4:AF coz of various things, one having a crappy joystick. But now i have the original F4 on its way in the post and once i get it, will install BMS. Looking at getting a joystick, a good one and have settled on getting Delan clip.

So are all these theaters the same as Korea and Balkans in that they’re dynamic campaigns simulating a war fought in real time? and they can just be downloaded with BMS?

As always, it depends. Some of the theaters have working campaigns, while others haven’t but you’ll find quite a few TEs created for them. My suggestion would be to try out stock BMS (KTO) first and then see what else is out there that interests you.

          Cheers, Uwe

            Hi,
Only the Korean theatre comes with the basic BMS install (in some variants, though, but the Korean Peninsula is where they all take place). All the other theatres (including the Balkans) have to be DL’ed and installed separately, and there are many, even though, as hoover mentioned, not all have fully developed dynamic campaigns available. You’ll easily find all you need to know about the various theatres in these forums.

            Lots of fun guaranteed 😉

            All the best, Tomasz

Fantastic and i’ve just received F4 in the post. Its a beast! weighs more than my belly and love the big map of Korea which i can use when playing the Korean theater in BMS, which brings me to another question.

I’ve noticed from looking in the manual, that F4 has 28 training missions which im guessing is the same as F4:AF, which also has these training missions which can be flown in game whilst learning from reading the manual. Big problem for me with AF was the digital manual which i needed to print out, which was just too many pages but now i have the manual for F4 as a book, and its a beauty. I wanna ask, in BMS are there training missions and are they the same ones as F4 which can be learned in conjunction with the manual?
If there is a separate online manual made for BMS is it the same or at least similar to the F4 original manual which i now have? and if the training missions are different in BMS than to the original F4, can i still use my F4 manual book to learn through the training missions?
Its important for me to be able to see the info, what i need to learn whilst being able to pause in game. Watching tutorials or reading the manual for a training mission before actually playing it, isnt practical for me as i know i’ll forget things and have to refer to the manual again.

Welcome to the BMS forum. All relevant manuals are to be found in the Doc folder in your BMS folder.

Hi NIL thanks for the welcome. As i said i have F4:AF, and when i was playing that i had 2 main problems.

                  1. Joystick i was using was a Saitek ST-50, very basic and nowhere near good enough.
                  2. When starting the first training mission learning to fly, i couldnt exit to windows by pressing the key on my keyboard whilst pausing the mission in game. I had to exit to windows to read the manual in Adobe Reader which gave me the info i needed for that training mission but as i said, i couldnt do this, which meant learning whilst playing impossible for me. Also i didnt want to have to print out 700 pages for the manual… so my question(s) is:

Q1: With BMS, in the training missions, can i pause the mission in game, return to windows to view the manual and then go back to the game by pressing the games’ window on the bottom task bar in windows?
Q2: If the above isnt possible, can i still learn well enough for each training mission using the original F4 manual which i have as a book? so i can pause the game and look up something when i need to?
Q3: If neither of the above are possible, can i purchase the BMS manual in a book form delivered to my address?

                  Thanks in advance!

Q1: Pause the sim and try to press alt tap. Press alt tab again to get back to the sim.

Q2: Yes, keep at it. Read, try, read again etc. The basic training missions are still somewhat the same, but not all missions are the same, new missions have been made.

Q3: Don’t think the BMS manual has been made as a book you can bye. Maybe someone has made one for their own purpose.

The way I did it when I started flying Falcon back in 1999 was reading the manual over and over and over again. Take notes, when you read and write down the important things for you, then the things you read are stored better in your head.

Dig in and enjoy. Be patient and you will get through.

                    Greetings

I know this thread is a little old, but just wanted to mention that the 4.33 manuals are available printed and bound via Lulu (print on demand) here: http://www.combatsimchecklist.net/F4download_BMS_document.htm

I haven’t tried the service but it’s an option if you don’t want to print it yourself.
