(t-flight hotas x) shifting and mode selecting.
I’ve been reading through how to set the controls properly on my Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas X. At the moment, I’ve only just did a quick bind of NWS, landing gear, airbreak, trim, just general flight stuff to get myself in the air and learning the jet.
So reading through the manuals, it basically shows that in AA , AG mode some controls do different things. So I’m wondering if I bind controls for lets say AG mode is it possible to over lap AA controls over the top, so when I’m in either modes it just uses the commands for that mode. Then use pinky shifting for extra controls? Or does BMS just ignore what mode your in?
Also I’m thinking about remapping the entire keyboard, basically removing all the in cockpit switches from the keyboard so I can have trim or other controls to easy to reach locations instead of having to figure out which key combo does what?
Or can someone supply me with a coherent DX “profile” to use and modify to base my controls on, or should I just find a Logitech 3d pro controls and try and match it?
I may help. I use a keyfile for a T.Flight HOTAS X with simplified keyboard controls.
Do you use a T-IR (or any similar device) ?
Yeah I use facetracknoIR (point tracker mode)
Then you may find my own keyfile useful, at least for a starting point to develop yours.
Here it is :
Keyboard controls layout http://eutoposwildcat.free.fr/WildcatKeysQWERTY.pdf
The keyboard controls are set so that they’re easy to access with the left hand only (so as to always keep the right hand on the stick, just like in the real cockpit) and only the few commands that can’t be found in the virtual cockpit or are a lot more easily accessed via keyboard have been kept.
EDIT : I chose to delete many functions that are a legacy of previous F4 versions and are no use today.
As for the HOTAS controls, they’re set as follows :
Button 1 : trigger - 2nd detent / dogfight override mode (shifted)
2 : pickle / override mode cancelled
3: CMS left / antenna tilt up
4: CMS up / antenna tilt down
5 : VHF / TMS up
6 : UHF / TMS down
7 : cursor enable / TMS right
8 : airbrakes toggle / NWS-missile step
9: pinky-shift / pinky-shift
10 : missile uncage / MRM override mode
up : zoom / cursor up
right : DMS right / cursor right
down : DMS down / cursor down
left : DMS left / cursor left
11 : range knob down / wheel brakes
12 : range knob up / drag chute
Thanks will give it ago tonight. Looks pretty straight forward.

How do you shift the buttons on the stick and throttle?
“shifting” works like on a regular keyboard : to shift a button, you just press both the “shift” button (button 9 in my keyfile) and the button you want to shift.
Notice that if you press only button 9, it then works like the “pinky button” on the real HOTAS, controlling zoom functions.
